Thread: Favorite Chronograph

    Favorite Chronograph

    Whats your favorite Chrono ?

I'm thinking of buying a new one soon.

Does anyone else have a cheaper watch they love as much
as much more expensive items ? I have a Casio Edifice Chrono
which I love, and gets noticed as much as watches ten times
    its price.

Zenith el primero rainbows are my favourites

    Re: Favorite Chronograph

Seiko Bullheads, either colour combination, but must be on a "fishbone".
Look and feel so much nicer than a lot of far more expensive chrono's.

    Re: Favorite Chronograph

crikey, there is a hell of a lot of choice how much are you planning on spending ?

I think the zenith mentioned above would be a great place to start if its in budget.

Very cheap and the favourite amongst my (few current) chronos (also my favourite chrono including the ones I have sold for that matter)

    Re: Favorite Chronograph

Something with only two registers, probably. I appreciate the ability to record up to 12 hours but I like seeing the symmetry of subdials on the left and right.

Chronos are a '60s/'70s thing for me (despite being around for over 100 years) so something chunky with a bit of colour always goes down well - Zenith, Tudor, Alpina, Oris, Heuer. I love the grey-brown dials and splash of red on this one:

...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

My favourite chronographs are the daytona and the carrera. I don't have either, but still my favourites, and will hopefully be in my possession some time in the future.

Yup, they don't have to be expensive; this one's a cracker too. Up-down rather than left-right, but terrific for the money (under £100):

daytonas up to about 1997 used the movement from the zenith rainbow.

i've learnt that since I started reading on here and i'd always say original is best.

Cheap and expensive differs for everybody I guess.
Personally, I've gone off chronos a little recently, but this is my favourite of those I own :

I have a Bentley and a Daytona the Daytona feels very small compared to the Breitling. Both are comfortable

I have a big soft spot for the bond seamaster chrono. I know its not the last word horologically speaking but feels great on the wrist. I'm a little bit in love with the new Longines heritage column wheel chrono too.

As the OP obviously means something I don't when he/ she says "cheap", I think this said it best in the Friday thread:

    JLC Master Chronograph
Zenith El Primero Class 4 (mine's having some work done atm :( )

I'm a sucker for chronos and prefer the classic looking ones. I use the chrono functions several times a day and sometimes wonder how I ever got by without one.

For me its undoubtedly the Seiko 6138-3002. i tend to prefer 2 dial registers. It's a watch I wish Seiko would remake! Pic below nicked from the web:

I've also started falling in love with the Zenith De Luca as well. Anyone want to sell me theirs :drunken:

So do I. And I also like the right one of that pair.

Not sure I've got a favourite - I like so many. Value for money, for me, goes to 1970s Seikos.

My Speedbird, which I love, is also great value:

    Don't care.

    I want them all.

I love IWC, Blancpain, Chopard, Mountblanc.....but nobody mentions them....

I also like the Raymond Weil Nabucco, why ar these not mentioned ?

I don't know why, but although I think leather straps look more expensive, I hate them when they start to
age, so I tend to go for metal straps.

Oh, have a Montblanc then. A touch more expensive than a Raymond Weil Nabucco I grant you, but hey...

Love the Heuer Autavias, and there've been some good ones posted already. I particularly like the Siffert. Someone posted one they'd bought from ebay for a steal that turned out to be genuine - v jealous of that one 8) I'd also love a speedy moonwatch :love4:
