very nice Bob,thx for showing!
The final piece landed this morning and here they are all together.
My own little Precista museum :) Bob.
very nice Bob,thx for showing!
A very, very nice collection. I even like the look of the modified ammo box, where did you get it from ?
Maddog, thanks. I made the box myself out of an old wooden wine case which I had as much fun emptying ! Bob.
Eddie should definitely have a look at this thread. Wonderful.

Quite lovely. Love the crate.

liking the wine case idea as well.

The one with the Sea Serpent hands would make a great new project for Eddie.
A great collection!
Nice collection, but the one I am looking for at the moment is the chrono, it doesn´t come up all that often!
I want to complete the big four!
first picture, watch in the middle is the bomb, is it a homage to a SM300?

Nice pieces !
Congrats !
Lovely collection! What was the last one to arrive, if I may ask?
Here's a photo of my two vintage Precista divers along with an RN dive compass from the period (or thereabouts):
Thanks for the comments. Nalu the one that completed the set was the 88 big triangle. I tried to buy the 88 you have pictured but alas was too late. I got the 82 auto first and tbh would not have gone for the set without that coming so early as they come up so rarely. The 88 I got came up on eBay with an 89 with no bezel insert and a starting price of 120 gbp. I sent him a message offering a bin price of 400gbp which was accepted and it was changed to bin 400 gbp . The time from the first listing to me hitting the bin button was forty one minutes including exchange of messages. Right place right time. Bob.
Lovely collection, thanks for showing :)
Very nice!
first time I've seen the full Precista set. Congratulations!
Love that two button chrono.
There is a 1982 Precista G10 quartz "Falklands" issue with thick case on the bay. Is the thick case any different then the 2 that are shown in the first collection above?
There were 2 different precista g10 styles. The first made in 1982 had the thick case front and thick case back known as a fat boy. The movement is exactly the same as CWC g10 from 1980 to 1982.
The second style is from 1984 with a different movement. The caseback is still fat but the case front is the thinnest of all of the g10 watches. Normally the precista hands keep their appearance far better than the CWC equivalents.
The watch you are looking at is the fat case model. The seller at anchor supplies is called Charlotte. Why don't you email her to ask what the lowest she will sell for. In the shop I have seen these at Ł95.

Thanks I already put an offer in for 110 but haven't heard back. Thank you for the info though I doubt I'll go any higher than 110 sounds pretty reasonable.
Lovely collection! Love the diver with the snowflake-ish hands
You should get it for that!Originally Posted by 12 bar

I have noticed one difference between the CWC and Precista movement set ups for 1982. In the CWC watches the movements are fixed into the movement holding disc with 2 little screws. In all of the Precistas that I have taken to pieces, these 2 screws are missing and so everything is kept in place using the crown stem and the caseback. Therefore the CWC movement is held in the case more securely. I have used the CWC screws to tighten up the Precista movements.Originally Posted by bobc
Anyone got any idea why the screws are missing in the Precista?

Yummy!
What's the SM300 hommage like?
If it's the seller I'm thinking of, he takes quite a few liberties with his descriptions of provenance. Best taken with a large grain of NaCl.Originally Posted by 12 bar

Very nice bobc. Did it take a while to make the set?

that timescale. The 82 auto came up on MWR at the end of last year and after a f2f
at Ferrybridge service station the watch was bought the next day.
At the time I had no plans to complete the set and then in Feb a 93 came up on ebay
with a starting price of Ł575. It never attracted a bid and so I contacted the seller suggesting
that perhaps their price might be a little high and a price was agreed. Arrangements were made to
meet at another service station and when I turned up the sellers were a retired couple
who then showed me two 93s and would I be interested in both. Two were duly bought
and one was moved on to a fellow collector.
Around the same time a 89 diver came up on MWR and as a plus had provenance from the
seller/owner. The hands had been replaced with CWC diver hands but the provenance had
me hooked. Another f2f at Ferrybridge and the third of the seven was in my hands. driving
home I decided to go for the seven, which had not occured to me until that moment.
Next came the 82 (g10) which I bought from a member on here, some lume was missing
from the minute hand so I had it 'sympathetically' relumed.
The 81 chrono was bought in a private transaction at the beginning of May.
Then came the 84 6bb g10 again from a fellow TZer in May.
Last came the 88 diver in September, which came from ebay and was sold with an 89 minus bezel insert. The hands from which were swapped with the CWC hands on the earlier 89 (provenance watch).
So there you have it ,the timeline of the collection. I would be very surprised if they could be put together in such a time again considering the rarity of most of them, I have had a lot of luck. Bob.
Nice litle museum! :bigsmurf:
Great collection!
The watches look to be in great condition, and I like the even patina on the lume and hands.
That snowflake diver is very cool. 8)
This is great, any clue of how many where made?Originally Posted by bobc

I think 1991 was near the end of Presista Stopwatch production.
This dial has the manufacturers name "Racine" greyed out / and over-printed with Precista on the top.
It looks like a rush job to get the batch out of the door.
Presista are likely to have been subcontracting the parts supply, or manufacture via Racine.
Various models of Precista stop watches were issued in batches between 1981 and 1997.
Racine (Gallet) was one of the manufacturer's that Southern Watch & Clock Supplies Ltd used
to produce their Precista models.

Splendid collection, Bob!
May I trouble You with a caseback pic of the '81 6BB chronograph, please?
Thanks so much.

Great suff
First time I've seen this thread, great collection!
"I looked with pity not untinged with scorn upon these trivial-minded passers-by"
Love all the stories behind them bob - I really like the precista divers watches particularly.
Your description of the ebay 88/89s brought back a teeth gnashing memory - I saw them on 'completed listings' at the time and wished I'd spotted them first! Great price - especially given the 'precista inflation' which has taken place recently!
Is it possible to find some more information on the '82 auto diver anywhere?
First time I've seen this thread, what a great collection. I was very tempted by the chrono
