    Bathroom extractor fans

    Hi,

My icon 60 fan (150mm) has just stopped working and the 3 year warranty ran out a few months ago.

I will need to replace this and wanted to ask if anyone can recommned me a reliable brand. There is choice between vent axia, epicair, exelair and icon.

Any advice on which is more reliable/better would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Vent Axia and Explelair are both good makes, it's what we used to use in new house builds.
Try to use a 240volt rather than low voltage as the transformer is more likely to give up rather than the fan motor...

I'd go vent axia everyday. That fact mine manages to clear the stench my father in law leaves when he just pops round, and bizarrely almost without fail, says just popping to the loo before I go, is testament to their ability.

Recommending a 240volt fan for a bathroom without knowing the layout of the bathroom is not good practice.

We have low-voltage in our bathroom due to its location, around 5 years no problems. The 240 volt Xpelair in our shower room over the same period has been replaced twice.

I put an inline vent axia up in the loft, can hardly hear it and shifts way more air than the crappy ceiling mounted fans.

To be fair, I did say 'try to use' and not 'use under all circumstances'.
Given the OP is asking for advice, I presumed they would have someone else do the work on their behalf who would know the appropriate 'zone' regs.

I've got a Vortice (never heard of them), it's still going strong after 11 years.

Just installed a Manrose MF 150T mixflow....awesome! Got it fairly cheaply from Screwfix. Shifts 500m3/hr

Greenwood do a range of constant running fans....supposedly cheaper to run that low energy bulbs.

That has crossed my mind. However, the light is connected to the fan. Not sure it is a good idea to leave it especially since it's making a terrible sound.

Not very helpful but anyway, we have them and never use them, just open the window before showering etc. Works for us. :D
