Hi Paul,
Was this private or from a dealer?
Sounds pretty good to me, provided it's in decent condition/doesn't need a service soonish. How old or what serial is it?
Just been into Bradford and was looking at a Rolex 16610 boxed but no papers with a price of £3050,I asked for a cash buy and she said £2800 good/bad or normal considering no papers etc etc?.
I'm not looking to buy but a mate of mine is after getting one.
Cheers
Paul

[quote="scarto"]Hi Paul,
Was this private or from a dealer?......Pawn brokers & had it in a while now.
Sounds pretty good to me, provided it's in decent condition....Almost as new .
doesn't need a service soonish....Don't know the answer to that.
How old or what serial is it....Would it's 10 year age tell you the serial?.
What might you expect to pay for this on here, ie watch and box ONLY and in superb condition?.
Paul
Sounds quite good to me - all things being equal it is up to £1k cheaper than a full set! That being the upper end of 16610's - older or newer the better obviously.
But I'd always prefer a full set - £100-£150 should buy you a full box with all booklets, tags, anchor etc. if you needed to replace the lot.
I'd still pay around 20% more or so for a full set.
It's just a matter of time...
Sounds OK to me; I bought a similar one 18 months ago on SC for £2375 (with a Rolex box but nothing else) but they've gone up a lot since then. Check the age carefully before buying; the newer the better IMO.
Mine's a 2003 with lugholes, excellent condition with a minor mark on the bezel.
The 'full-set' obsession is ill-founded IMO and not worth paying huge amounts extra for. Check whether all the links are present in the bracelet though; no box & papers usually = missing links. I think extra links are around £50.....might be worth checking because stuff like this has gone up.

I'm not buying the watch,I was just stating what I had seen and that a mate was/is interested in a Rolex sub.
I don't think its a bad deal Paul, given a couple of hundred for a service and some Rolex paperwork I would say go for it.... Its not your money is it mate

If I was after one then going by all your replies I would have had it for sure.
It sounds a pretty fair deal to me, I'd tell your mate to go for it.
Certainly sounds like a good buy
I agree with what everyone says re the price offered being a fair one, but if the pawn broker had the watch for a while they maybe able to do a deal with another £100-150 off, provided they know you / your friend are definitely going ahead.
Hell I may have to buy it myself,it sounds like a bloody bargain then.
An update re the 16610,my mate didn't buy that but did infact buy a very nice boxed and papers 16800 for the princely sum of £2550 from a private seller which was a damn good price we both agree.
I paid £2500 for my 16610. Full set minter. :D
That's quite a really good deal! :bounce:Originally Posted by James.uk
I'd say it depend's on the age, but overall £2.800 is not bad, but not cheap as well.

Prices have risen sharply over the last 12 months. Maybe you got a bargain, or maybe you're implying that the watch the OP's referring to is over-priced :?
What exactly ARE you trying to say?

The only one I can see is £2945...Originally Posted by Bozza

Just out of curiosity how old & what condition were these £2.5k 16610's guys?
My earlier comments referred to my 2003 16610, obtained in Feb 2010 from SC, without papers and original box but supplied with a Rolex box which may or may not be genuine. I valued the watch as 'without B & P' when I bought it and was happy to pay £2375 for it. This was deemed to be a good price at the time; the seller was swamped with responses and I was lucky to get it.....5 mins after it had been listed.
I think this established clearly that in Feb 2010 a 2003 16610 without B & P was a good buy at £2375; as a full set it would've been around £2500-£2600.
As we all know, Rolex prices have increased 3 times since then and the 16610 has been discontinued; consequently prices of second hand 16610s have risen sharply and 'my' watch would probably sell for around £2700-£2800 now, possibly a touch more. I`m not bullshitting and I`ve NO intention of selling; I`m trying to help the OP by stating mostly facts but with some 'opinion' re the actual current values.
That's why I found the 'I paid £2500 for a mint full set watch :D ' annoying; prices have gone up so sharply of late that it becomes a meaningless comment which doesn`t help the OP at all . If full set 16610s in mint condition are available at £2500 CURRENTLY I`ll take half a dozen.....but we all know they are NOT readily available, don`t we? I assume this comment was added to imply that £2500 is the going rate...or maybe the poster was gloating a little because he's picked up a real bargain which doesn`t represent current market values :? .....or maybe he bought it some time ago?
Hopefully, the OP's found this thread helpful in answering his question.....I`m saying no more on it.
Paul
I found this very useful info, cheers :thumbleft:Originally Posted by walkerwek1958
Do you know if the 16610 still available and if so, could be worth a quick 'heads-up' to anyone on here currently looking for one (not me as I got mine from SC back in July :D ).Originally Posted by P9CLY
