Was pretty certain that I wasn't going to be buying this, but this picture has got me wavering. Looks really nice.

Hard to know. We don't have an ETA and we don't have a price.

I seem to remember earlier in the thread Eddie saying he had a couple of hundred movements sourced and was looking for more for this watch so hopefully there will be enough for all of us! I'm interested to know the projected price.

I bought a Sewill Ark Royal but it has a certified chrono movement with a rather nice bracelet, at £600+
Since then, with a slashed income, I'd have hoped for under £400 or it's likely to remain another on my wish list.

I doubt - regardless how awesome this appears to be - that CAF will much deviate from the usual price range of Eddie. And for that this sure looks like a Steal :druid:

    Hi John,

we at Czech Chronomag watch forum are watching the whole old CAF project and this thread closely. And I just hope that the CAF pricing will be more affordable than the Prim Orlik editions...

    Abso-friggin-lutely beautiful CAF!

BTW and apropos nothing at all; the graceful badge reminded me of an equally graceful bird for some reason, this one belonging to Hispano-Suiza
....and that is a good thing!

Do Prim make a CAF homage? I've seen a couple of Prims around the US$2500 mark, is this typical?

    No.
    Yes.

Actually there are two Prim watches sellers fighting over the brand name. One makes watches in Czech Republic in the old factory where millions of Prim watches used to be made from 1949 till 1989, now they produce hundreds of individualized watches per year. The other company sells Million Smart Company lines made in China under Prim brand.

    The expensive logo

    The cheap logo

But there are also some expensive historic models manufactured in Czech Republic with the simple Prim logo, eg. Prim Diplomat, my favorite one. It's a mess.

Looking forward to seeing PRS CAF soon!

can someone more educated or knowledgeable than me ( ok ok which means just about everyone ) let me know if the bezel is bi or uni directional. also ive looked at a few pics of the longines caf and the lugs appear to splay outwards. if so, why is this? or is this an optical illusion because of the angle they leave the case.

They are known as "splayed lugs" (google it). On the wrist it is hardly noticeable and gives terrific wrist presence. When I had the Zeno it was spotted by the a couple of Panerai owners. It has a very Pany-feel but sits better. Sorry, I cannot help with the bezel question, only Eddie can answer that.

Plus to time refuelings (and grab a sandwich  ). From experience I find bezels much more useful than chronographs for timing things. The revolving bezels on these early 'aviators' are from a completely different evolutionary branch from the one that led to the modern bezel.

I was wondering why you chose this movement over the Unitas but now I can see it positions the seconds better on the dial (plus it gave you more room to do what you had to do).

I find the 'Wehrmacht' reference a tad ironic.
