    Hi from a Noob

    Hi all

Well, having been a regular lurker in these forums for the last couple of weeks, I thought it was about time I joined the fun properly!

Having lived for years with a bottom of the range Casio digital I got for a cheap holiday beater and never got round to replacing, I guess my interest in watches has really just blossomed over this last six months or so, and now I'm seriously looking for something better, preferably an automatic.

Any advice as to a decent "start of collection" watch for about £2k or less would be appreciated, although a (pre-owned?) Steelfish is top of my list unless anything changes my mind - got to love those lume dots!

Anyway, just wanted to see hi, and I seem to have done that, so cheerio for now.

With 2k in your trousers the world's your oyster. So it all depends on personal taste. Yours, that is, because despite all the advice you might receive, you're the person looking at it all day long. Having said that, there are many bargaintastic used watches out there. Specifically, newish Omegas seem to be good value with mint Planet Oceans appearing at around the £1400 mark. Have fun shopping! :bounce:

2k will get you all kinds of nice things - the Deep Blue 120 was my first and was well within that range. I love wearing a 41 year old watch that's in great condition and think the older Omegas are much better looking than the new ones.

Hello and enjoy - once you've narrowed down your criteria I am sure you'll be able to invite plenty of opinion!

Before I joined TZ, I had a fairly narrow mind when it came to watches.

By the time i could stick my nose into sales corner my eyes were truly opened.

So lurk a while longer, enjoy the sights in the "Friday" thread of watches you had probably never considered before, and when you eventually find your way into sales Corner, see how long you can hold out before you permanently dip your wick in the wonderful world of watches...

oh, and enjoy your disposable income whilst you can, as it will be a slippery financial slope from here

Welcome! I'm new myself :) 2k is a great sum to spend on watches, especially on the used market.
