Yep. Like that, bit basic but the underlying theme of it not being that big is continualy echoed by anyone who has owned one for a period of time

I was just reading this again and mine is deffo a mk1 DSSD.

Lovely watch, great photos and review. Specially like the glide lock clasp...genius. It's the worst thing having a braclet that's to loose. You take a link out and it's to tight. Doh!

Before I read your review, I had only seen the watch at the AD, and I didn't even had the courage to try it on. The size was overwhelming. I should have tried on.

Technically its best of the best, all that we Rolex Submariner fans dreamed off. Sizewize it's a Huge leap of faith.

Thanks for your time and effort to post this review, you certainly made me think again this watch.

Great review, I just wish Rolex had kept the helium valve splurge on the back of the case, it is the one reason that has kept me away from the DSSD.

Its not popular belief its normally written by someone who has just tried it on in a AD or owned it for a few days/weeks, the long term reports on the DSSD are all outstanding

no , not at all, i find it the same as a sub, some people find it slightly different. way smaller than the deepsea

Not sure I'd go with that Mike, I find the SD wears just as high as the DSSD due to the SD having a rounded caseback and the DSSD a flat one - but that could be my wrist shape :?

In general terms though, and not just height, yes the DSSD wears a lot bigger as the diameter is larger making it feel considerably bigger on the wrist, it weighs twice as much too and the substantial bracelet on the DSSD makes the SD one feel like tin foil :lol: The biggest difference I've noticed is the DSSD is considerably more "head heavy" than the SD due to the whopping case thickness and crystal.

Had the same experience on my 6 1/2" wrists so didn't buy. That said, I thought it worked better on the wrist than it looked in the shop window and, surprisingly to me, wears quite discreetly.

I tried one on a few times and while the styling was slightly too brutal for my tastes, I was extremely impressed with the comfort of the fit, the bezel action and the legibility of the dial. It is a little too tall for my tastes for every day wear, but is an incredible piece of engineering. I do not like the writing around the ring at all when I see photos, but it doesn't seem that prominent in real life.

These do seem to divide opinion, but the two people I know who own one absolutely love their Deepseas.
