Oh, I see what they've done there. They've confused 'real man' with 'total wanker'.
That's hideous!
... apparently.
And that's fine by me.
Individuals seeking for that timepiece that screams “I’m a real man” may want to consider the Romain Jerome RJ Steampunk watch. A gorgeously-designed timepiece with steampunk design, this hardcore wristwatch will have you feeling rough n’ tumble in no time.
A follow-up of the Romain Jerome Titanic-DNA Troubillon Steampunk A la Grande, the Romain Jerome RJ Steampunk has mechanical self-winding movement, 23 jewels all encased in polished steel paws and for screwed-down pistons symbolizing the RJ signature ‘X.’

PS No point looking for this in the RJ Collection: it's listed as an Objet d'Art on their website

Build me one out of some reclaimed rusted out Ford Capri and then I may be interested.

Totally happy being as un-manly as possible if the alternative means wearing that........."thing"!!
I've never really wanted a "timepiece that screams" anything at all, really. Must be something wrong with me...
Just to play the  advocate; I think the use of coroded metal is an interesting idea. Don't like the face or any other aspects of the watches though.

I don't think that there's another single manufacturer who polarises opinion on here in quite the same way.
And rightly so.

Horrendous, that's all I've got say!
Not sure they polarise opinion - if there are people on here who are wildly keen on Romain Jerome, they're keeping it under their hats.
I wouldn't agree with that, polarising causes people to adopt extreme opposing positions - and in the case of RJ I don't recall anyone ever being in their favour!Originally Posted by Backward point

A REAL man has to know his limitations, a wise man once said :)
This piece of shite is my limit :D
Cheers,
Daddel.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
There's something a bit disturbing about "a real man" watch and a name that makes you think of Ron Jeremy
But hey, I'd still wear the watch! (although I wouldn't pay for it...)
First thing came to mind seeing this was the scrap bin at a sheet metal works where they chuck the off cuts.
awful looking thing.

Didn't their "Titanic" model come with a certificate from Harland & Wolf "authenticating" that the rust came from the Titanic? Or something equally confusing.
Excuse me whilst I vomit.
Does that watch belong to Mad Max?!Originally Posted by Seabadger
Whether you like RJ or not, it's their best watch by miles....I love mine.
Good God!!!
they've really captured the look of a cowpat with that one :D :D
Tongue in cheek, m8  . I promise you I would never wear that.....even choosing between castration and wearing that...well, it would be a close call....Originally Posted by Orange Peel

Is there a picture of the finished one?
I've never seen such an hard to read watch with hands.
I will freely admit to having a bit of a liking for steampunk when it is well-executed, but that watch just does nothing for me.
Here's a short video of a Romain Jerome RJ Steampunk watch factory tour.

I love steampunk styling when done in the Jules Verne type of context, but I would not by any means consider this watch to be steampunk. The only thing that comes close to it is the sides of the case, but the face/mechanism of the watch is not even close. Which is kind of strange as mechanical clockworks inherently have quite a steampunk look and only need some Victorian era detailing to pull it off.
I've just looked up steampunk. You learn something every day!Originally Posted by adigra

I wouldn't pay big bucks for it, but I quite like it.
Still, I'm not one to follow the crowd - I even like Graham
I don't care much for the 'real man' tag though, that's marketing trying far too hard.
And surely Bremont has to be the most polarising brand on the forum ?!
Correct. :wink:Originally Posted by Routers

.
I saw the Romain Jerome Steampunk on some site I was looking at yesterday but I didn't think it was worth mentioning because the case was the same as in all his other watches.
I am surprised he is still around because I don't think anybody is actually buying his stuff. :|
I have said it before, that the mechanical wristwatch is the ultimate steampunk device 8) . All the other ‘stuff’ is just fashion.

PS I, I, I, I am having a personality crisis.
THIN is the new BLACK
Looks like something Fred Flintstone might wear!
My wife and friends still think I'm a real man but if I showed up wearing this they would reconsider real fast :blackeye:
