    TV watch spotting

Chef Simon Rimmer sporting a 45mm Omega PO on yesterday's SFTW to compliment Tim Lovejoy's usual TH Carrera Chrono.

For a skinny lad, can't help thinking he's over done it with the big PO, unless it's a 42, in which case thems skinny wrists !

I saw that as well and came to the same conclusions. Couldnt tell at first if it was the liquid metal but looked too big.

James Martin on Saturday Morning kitchen seems to like his watches, never been able to identify one but they are obviously high end. Rolex I assume. I know they are not Pams or Hublots.

I was right then (only got a 3-5 second look), Simon doesn't normally wear a watch so it got me interested (familiar with Tim's of course as he doesn't seem have any others).

James Martin (Saturday Kitchen) seems to have a variety of watches.

There were a few watches on display on the Apprentive final but I could ID any of them.

Interestingly Tim mentioned a few months ago that he'd been broken into and they'd taken a few watches but i've also only ever seen him wearing the Carrera....

The tall one used to wear a Breitling Navitimer of some sort. Ditto Simon Cowell.

James Martin is a well known watch man, I see him most in a sub lv and a black faced daytona. Whilst on the subject, also seen that annoying Tim fella in a Monaco too, only ever seen him in tags.

I've seen the following TV personalities sporting the following pieces:

Theo from Dragons Den wearing a Daytona - bimetal I think.

Alan Sugar with a Daytona - steel/white gold (probably the latter)

    Top Gear boys
Clarkson - Omega PO (also a Pam I think)
Hammond - old seadweller / sub
    James May - IWC Portuguese

    David Beckham - DSSD

I wasn't sure what he was wearing this time. He had a Navitimer in the old episodes but they all seem to run into one for me!

I was in Omega @ Heathrow recently and the girl told me that James May and Jeremy Clarkson both buy their Omegas from there and always pop in when they travel.

Lord Sugar seems to wear a different watch every week on The Apprentice... I think it was an Explorer in the final one if I remember correctly. He likes his watches though... posted a picture on Twitter a few months back of some of them and he had a few Rolex models.

    Holy Thread Resurrection!!

Dick Strawbridge was spotted wearing an Omega Bond skeleton hands of some sort in Escape to the Chateau at Christmas (2021).

I only viewed it to see the lovely town of Colmar in its full Christmas splendour.

Don't worry about TV and check out this. I watched some of the film last night and the watch is really central to the the plot.

    Warning.

Don't forget - before attaching yourself to a woman, meet her mother to see who you will be attached to in 30 years.

Having said that, if I had followed my own advice I would have shot her, never mind married her.

Reminds me of the first time I dined with my then girlfriend and her family. I was on best behaviour and it was a little bit formal and awkward until her dad leaned over and said, right in front of his wife, "I've got some bad news for you....You know the daughters always end up looking like there mothers....?"
The wife laughed it off and then he said,
"Mind you, you haven't seen the grandmother yet. F***ing state of that!"

Strange choice for Sugar to appear on mainstream TV in front of those.

Watched a jason statham film with j-lo in it. surprisingly good to be fair but twice he looks at his watch which happens to be a richard mille and it lingers on its for a few seconds which seems weird in an action film. It does it twice in the film and its cringe

I suspect that the watches are out of the producers' dressing-up box & hence not sized.

Look for the same watches on their other shows -

Was watching the F1 at the end of last season and spotted this nicely worn Aerospace...

My daughter loves the Great British Sewing Bee and we watch an episode together every now and then. The judge Patrick Grant seems to like his Cartiers, with a Santos regularly poking out from a cuff.

I am rather partial to the what's this old tat? trend in TV, so stuff like Salvage Hunters, Antiques Roadshow, etc. Drew Pritchard has a fairly regular collection of notables, but Fiona Bruce seems to be very fond of a white ceramic chrono that looks to be a 42mm or so. I've also seen Dick Strawbridge regularly wearing a Seamaster, 90s or later vintage, when he is doing heavy work :)

It's a bit sad, but I find myself trying to spot the wrist wear of those personalities of whom I am fond - mostly science, history, etc people.

Maybe a bit OT but I watched "don't look up" last night. The odious character of the USA chief of staff seemed to be wearing a Richard Mille. Quite appropriate imho.
