OK I know I am going to get toasted for asking but here goes anyway. Eddie why does one have a red dot thingy when the rest have yellow ones? :D
Don't encourage him, he is just a tease :lol:Originally Posted by ChrisM456

Im new so pls excuse the stupidity:
With all these prospects how one can actually decide what/when to buy or wait?
I already can't decide between SBGMT, Xplorer, and 17CMT (SBGMT is the most likely soon?) but new things are just keep coming in this forum.

Not a chance, but then I`m utterly useless when it comes to the inside of a watch... :albino:
I`d love to see where it`ll eventually end up though.
Unitas centre second hand movement. Must be for the B-uhr?
Wait a minute  Eddie's showing us the red one. What are all of the ones with the yellow crown thingie?

Whatever it is for, the case must be huge with a stem that long :)

Its a 6497-1 says so on the movement, whatever that means in Eddies
grand scheme.
All the yellow ones are the same as the red one.

That is a lovely looking movement, centre seconds, screwed balance :drunken:
I'm just away to backtrack through old posts, as i've missed all the talk of this

Well those look nice :D
Well, it wouldnt necessarily be my first choice, but saying that, Im in the camp of, Id rather have it than not at all.
Looking forward to seeing the finished dial, its going to be a hard one to resist either way.
This movement is the absolute top version available with the centre seconds modification. Because of the extreme difficulty getting hold of them, I decided to have all the bells and whistles instead of wishing I'd done it when it was too late.
Here's the specification:
Unitas 6497-1 Stop Seconde Centrale "Premium"
Rhodium CdG (9 stripes)/Incabloc/Rochet/roue de cour. collimacconé/blue screws/balance wheel Glucydur ā vis/swan neck
The "Deluxe" version doesn't have Incabloc or swan neck regulator and the "Luxe" doesn't have Incabloc, swan neck or the Glucydur balance.
There's a thread running on WUS expressing frustration that Stowa can't get any more of these movements in which a TZ-UK member posted a link to this thread saying "Well we know where some of the movements went" followed by a "disappointed" smiley. I don't understand why he's disappointed I got the movements, they were available to anyone prepared to do their homework and pay the price.

Sounds great Eddie!
I've got to agree with you about the poster on WUS, what's the problem? You pay the money, you get the goods - simple.
Now where's the face / case / strap for this beauty?

i wonder in what precista model you'll use this mvt :) I'll pay the price you say Sir

Can someone please tell me what watch this movement is going to go into?
And can I have the one with the red thingy please. I feel that we have bonded.
A B-UHR Type 2, that will look something like this:Originally Posted by ZIM
Mmmmmmm. I like that.
Thanks Gordon.
Now Eddie about the one with the red thingy....................................
Not quite, as my understanding was that Walter would've let the company die if he didn't find a person who was the right fit to carry on (Although that did come from the Stowa site IIRC). But the argument surely also applies to most 'historic' watch brands and certainly the Glasheutte ones resurrected after the fall of the iron curtain?Originally Posted by swanbourne
Anyway, this is detracting from the discussion about your watches and this will be a stunning watch with a worthy heart I'm sure.
If you look at this larger image, you'll see the depth and shape of the Geneva stripes. Compare this with the cheaper Geneva striped movements and you'll see chalk and cheese. Anybody spot the extra jewel?
Eddie

Geneva stripes are purely decorative, aren't they? I mean they don't provide any useful function, do they?
