I agree, although they're harder to come by than the "4.5". I'd like one of them - I think the Cal 1040 versions (with the combined running secs and 24hr indicator subdial) are the nicest of the lot. The Mk III has that, and it's a beautiful dial... but a gargantuan case and not for everyone. The Mk IV has a much trimmer profile.I'm finding the Mk IV strangely alluring.Ah, but which one? Some of the Cal 1040 Seamaster chronos are really nice too.
Don't have any Omega's in the collection these days, I had a SMP pre Bond and a 42mm PO, but I would like a nice SM300 on a bracelet.

Top thread, makes me like mine even more now. Always flirting with changing mine but can't think of a better brand for the money TBH.
Had a few over the last 2 years:-
2254 - My first good watch (miss it a lot now, probably THE most desirable modern Seamater)
2599 - Chunky beast (miss this one too, would really like another)
PO45 on rubber - A bit of a Casino Royale moment
2220.80 - Co-Ax Bond - bought brand new, kept for a month then traded WITH the 2254 for a B'ling CA
2201.50 - Probably the best allround PO (had a few running issues and an annoyingly off-set bezel)
2531 - Actually prefer this to the 2254 and deffo preferred to the PO, THE classic modern Seamaster
Would love a Speedy Pro but as I only own one watch at a time, think I would have to look after it more than the Seamaster where water is concerned. I think my absolute grail and compromise watch would be the rare-as-rocking-horse-do-dos Speedy Racing 3552.59 (please PM me if you have one you want to sell) :)

Constellation Pie Pan, vintage Seamaster, modern Seamaster and Speedy Moon ..
Not the best pics, struggling to photograph them nicely, need more practise.
The more I see of the Constellation, the more I love those lugs - I think the slight angle in them must be pretty similar to the angle of the outer part of the pie pan dial. And those on yours look very nice and crisp. I was recently attempting to admire an 18k gold Constellation available at an eye-watering price, but the lugs had lost all their definition.

Thanks for the compliment it’s the Aqua Terra 8500 ref 231.10.42.21.06.001. Grey Teak Dial. Depending on the light it either flicks between light grey to a darker shade. On the bracelet it looks more dressy in my opinion as you get light reflection from the bracelet as well as the angle work on the dial batons. I picked the deep grey sail effect strap as I think it makes it a touch more sporty. It feels quality all in all.
Post this model they’ve modernised by putting in horizontal strips , changing crown and I think complete in house but I’m not an expert.
Picked this up in a trade from the site at very good value. Some people still of course love the old 2500’s and I have to say the blue Dials are lovely.
My first mechanical watch, worn daily for many years and one of very few I’ll never sell.
I decided to give it a new lease of life though. I’ve loved it on the bracelet and it looks like new, as does the rest of the watch, since a full Omega service last year.
I fancied leather though. And my, what leather! A Dangerous9 custom strap in Teju and Sharkskin. Stupidly expensive, a ridiculously long wait and impossible to justify in any logical terms. I mean, no one will ever even see the blue! However, it feels amazing, looks awesome up close and just makes me happy.
So, here’s to many more memories with my little, not the real deal, but very special (to me) Speedmaster!

Examined my IWW customised & PVD'd 1968 Omega Seamaster 300 Model 166024-67 Caliber 565 today; case back removed for first time to check the caliber and model reference:
Rolex case knife used to sharpen a matchstick - which then used to compress springbars without scratching the lugs' PVD finish
Bezel fitted with custom insert
Dial was re-lumed by IWW
Appears to have correct attributes.

Probably not one for the purists, but I think that looks great. I think black PVD works well on divers... even had thoughts about PVD Submariners/Sea-Dwellers, and how I wouldn’t mind if they were scuffed up a bit...
