Thread: Show us your Omega's.....

    Show us your Omega's.....

I thought I would take a picture of my current collection of Omega's before my Speedmaster Cal 1045 eventually finds a new home. I thought I'd found the perfect 4 for now but unfortunately the Cal 1045 bracelet won't adjust correctly to fit my wrist so its looking for a new home :( All is not lost though as I will hopefully be replacing it with.......you guessed it........another OMEGA!

While taking the pictures, it occurred to me that I could start a topic along the lines of the 'Show us your....' threads but obviously for Omega instead, so here it is! I'm looking forward to seeing some interesting models that I haven't seen before and hopefully hearing a few stories along the way. It will hopefully give me some ideas for my next addition(s) too.

    Here are mine:

    All together

    Seamaster Professional Chronograph 2599.80.00

    Seamaster Professional Quartz 2542.80.00

    Speedmaster MKII Racing Dial 145.014

    Speedmaster Cal 1045 176.0012

So come on guys show us your Omega's modern and vintage.....

As the song goes - "regrets, I've had a few, but then, too few to mention" Some Omega's remain - a lot have past through my collection -

    120m vintage

    guess..

    Ploprof 1200m Co-axial

X-33 (now sold   )

    Seamaster

2254 (gone    )

    GMT-co-axial

    GMT 50th anniversary

    TT on TT Seamaster

    DeVille

    PO 42mm on strap

Omega are one of my favorite brand - but they have become too pricey to pay for new these days..

    Gents...

Here are just a few I have found time to picture... missing are my MINT 1973 Omega 125th Anniversary Chronograph (1 of 2000), my MINT 1976 SHOM on Omega Isofrane, and several other mint examples in solid/massive 14K from the 50s-70s... as well as a few others that elude me (I began as an Omega collector in 1995)

Pics, with brief intros (of what I've pictured):

Omega La Magique Ref BA 523.1025 Circa 1981
Amongst THE thinnest watch in the world (at the time) NOS and functioning superbly, 80 grams of solid (.750) 18k, 1 of ONLY 261 made, and 1 of 20 made with the gold mesh "grain d'orge" bracelet, with mystery hands (sapphire discs) - ultra flat (2.6 mm), rectangular, 18K yellow gold gentleman' s quartz mystery wristwatch with transparent dial center.

To put things in perspective, because these La Magique are SO rare (cal 1357), the smaller brother: the Dinosaure (cal 1356) of which their production greatly out numbered that of the La Magique, and in LESSER condition is going for 8500 gbp currently on eBay:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT

And my MINT Omega Speedmaster so called Holy Grail ref 376.0822 (Lemania 5100, in MOON WATCH case) on original 1450 bracelet and 809 end pieces just having returned from service in Omega OZ, with all papers, books and original box, reportedly only 1600 OR LESS ever made and for only ONE year 1987 (additionally, as this model 3760822) watches have little to NO replacement parts I ordered from OZ service an additional, in package NOS original crystal with charter ring, and hands set):

Of course the ICON, Omega Seamaster 600 "so-called" Ploprof Ref 166.077 Circa 1970
    Generation 1 TYPE 1
    - THE first and rarest of ALL - UNREFINISHED BEAUTY - like new, with FRESH Omega Bienne Facory service and accompanying factory waranty, Omega extract/abstract, NOS books in Spanish and French (the French one actually read PLOgeur PROfessional), rarest exotic woods Omega box, original warranty book and extras including Omega mesh (wrapped) etc...

I weighed up buying a PO or a blue Bond for ages, and decided on the blue Bond as being more classic. So I walked into Goldsmiths and fell for the black Bond

A cracking watch, and my only Omega thus far. I'm waiting for the 2011 Omega Planet Ocean with the 8500 caliber movement before buying my second...

Though I sincerely appreciate the push...

The mere thought is painful... and I have to gear up to deal with all those bezel kickers and low ballers... have to be mentally prepared for that

    To be gracious that is

Always willing to have intelligent conversation with Omega collectors via PM, whether about these examples or just as a guide in their pursuits... no real dire need to sell (though perhaps TRADE), but they are available, and PRIME examples as is obvious.

Thanks again for the motivational push - appreciated

Had this one for a short while. Lovely looking but best on a leather strap in my opinion.

This was my first serious watch bought new 6 years ago. It is a sure keeper never to leave the stable.

Btw, did you use to post on WUS as "Uncomfortable Hunk Of Metal" or something similar to that?

    Hello Stefan...

Yes, absolutely OMEGA BIENNE is REQUIRED to guarantee the watch is perfectly operational and WATER-PROOF to -600 Meters as part of the Omega Bienne full service (OMEGA BIENNE SERVICE DOCS IN PICS), in doing that they require certain OMEGA NOS replacements (the bezel) being the one OMEGA Bienne required, and the Omega hands were a personal decision, as they did not look nearly as good as the perfect MK1 Type1 dial.

If one does NOT agree to their requirements, the example is returned to the owner un-serviced - and that's it, as they will not guarantee their work - which is pricey :D

The hands were of course returned and I have them, though consider them worthless, as the current OMEGA ones are exactly THE same, as well have the original bezel, which looks perfect with exception of a crack.

The dial and case are untouched/unrefinished, the Omega mesh still in it's wrapper, unused.

The watch is OMEGA Bienne serviced/warrantied (24 months worth), water-proofed to -600M as when new by the originating factory... and honestly I would NEVER buy an example of this watch (Ploprof) that has not been sorted completly by the Factory (who made it originally) via a recent full service, as who knows what's in there otherwise?

This one also has the Extract of Archives from OMEGA, stating it was delivered to sunny Mexico :drunken:

And YES... parts of my current collection were formerly that of Uncomfortable Hunk - some truly AMAZING pieces!

    Thanks for your interest.

    Bomier...

Now THAT looks like the CORRECT original bezel on your MK1 Type1 with the STRAIGHT 1 and SQUARE 3 :D as opposed to the other way around. It is infact the one returned to me by OMEGA BIENNE after the full service of my MK1 Type1 back to original factory specs, though my original has a crack in it, hence the Factory required swap.

Very nice, even with wabi

Gents... 2 more I've located pics to from my Omega collection (and more to go...)

1973 Omega 125th Anniversary Speedmaster - 1st Omega chronometer rate chronograph, as well as 1st chronograph-chronometer with automatic winding offered by any manufacturer to the public. Omega Cal. 1041 (Lemania) powered. 1 of reportedly 2000 made by Omega. Fully serviced and perfect complete original :drunken:
    More info: http://www.chronomaddox.com/speedmaster125.html

And of course one of the many solid gold pieces from the collection, but amongst my favorites, 1950's caliber 342 bumper automatic with gorgeous dauphine hands, in 14k serviced and perfect complete original (WITH exception of strap, ok guys   ), though has high quality genuine crocodile on Omega gold buckle.

I'll shoot them as I dig them out :D, as it'll assist in listing them for IMMEDIATE SALE

Some real heavyweights on show already 8)

    Here's my little collection.

Terrible pics (which I'll try to update later)
    Circa 1968 Seamaster Cosmic.

I like the shape of the lugs on this one. Other Cosmics have straight lugs.

One piece case (can't remember the proper name  ) movement has to come out through the front.

Circa 1969 Gold plated Constellation Day-Date.

Lovely linen dial on this one, that again deserves better pics

    My two Speedmasters

145-022-68 "861" transitional (left) and 105-012-65 in the box. Both still on 1039 bracelets (alternative replacement options in front).

And finally, not mine, but one of the many on the "Omega wish-list"

I fancy a bumper movement, 'honeycomb' (?) dial in a SS case with 'beefy' lugs (not sure if these are beefy or not :? ).
