CWC G10 - Instruction to strip and clean

    Hi,

I bought one of "the" CWC G10s going for a song on Ebay and would like to strip it and give the face a clean etc... :?

Can anyone supply or has anyone got some instruction on how to strip the watch and what is best to use to clean the face and internals?

    Many thanks in advance.

    ColBlimp

ps Bought two watches and both work fine, but one is better than the other hence the cleaning.

    Hi ColBlimp

Without wanting to sound rude, the simple answer is....

If you need to ask this question, then best left to the professionals ie a watchmaker.

The less simple answer, if you're not put off is....

Re the dial - leave well alone - it'll only end up being ruined.

Re the movement - if it's running poorly, not really worth servicing. Better to buy a replacement quartz movement. Cousins material house in the UK sell replacements that drop right in. Can't remember the price, but the last time I fixed some CWC's, they were well under £10 each.

Hands and dial can be relumed if you have a steady hand. Again, luminus paste can be bought from materials houses such as Cousins.

Tools you'll need - ideally a set of hand removers & some watchmakers screwdrivers. That's about all for a quartz CWC. I have some pics showing some dismantled CWC's. If I can find them, I'll post them later.

    Cheers

Both of my bargain G10's are working fine now, just having a devil of a time getting the snap back on.

You probably need a press tool Dave.

Although you can refit the backs, some quartz watches are virtually impossible.

I have used a piece of wood in a vice.

    Thanks for the tip Neil,

I was hoping to lure my portly cousin in with some treats so he could sit on the watch. :)
