Red Dead Redemption - anyone played?

Got this through the post today but won't have time to play it for a couple of days.

Has anyone played it? What did you think? Any tips?

    :)

Yeah played it right through twice, just trying to get 100% on it now.... Probably my favourite game of recent times and one of the few where the cut scenes didn't bore me.

Tips, I won't spoil it for you bar saying when you find the treasure map don't feel bad if you have to cheat (look on youtube) for the solutions.

Cheers matey! I'm looking forward to giving it a blast. :) I still play GTA4 mainly, just can't get over how expansive it is. Saying that the RDR map is vast!

Playing it a lot at the moment and enjoying it (helps that I love westerns).

    Watch out for cougars!

Just finished the main part of the game. Pretty good overall, but not without its frustrations. I love these open play type games, but I'd say Fallout 3 was better.

I had Fallout 3 but I never got into it. I think it didn't help that I'd just finished Oblivion, and Fallout 3 was the same game (pretty much) in a different setting. Still, great graphics and interaction.

RDD is a bloody good game. However it gets very repetitive very quickly as did GTA (which it essentially is with a wild west skin on).

I agree with the above in that Fallout 3 is a much more invovled and far more enjoyable game.

I also think Assassins Creed 2 (and subsequent add ons and dlc) is well worth a look - thoroughly enjoyed playing it, and much better than the first one which was a let down.

    Hope this helps.

I did start to get bored with the riding from place to place but then I started using waypoints and travelling to them via the camp.

Bingo, move from one side of the game world to the other in a few seconds.

I like it, you have to hog tie someone and drop them on the railway track, then watch as the train hits them

Great game, I can't wait for the Zombie DLC to be released.

I love GTA, although I didn't like GTA4 when it first came out. In fact I sold it after a couple of days, but I bought it again this year and loved it from the off.

Can't wait to get started on RDR - roll on Saturday! :D

Right after the storyline attack on Fort Mercer go back and do the gang hideout to get the first automatic pistol. Not as good as the mauser but faster than the revolvers.
