Yes - I agree. I had one a couple of years back and probably should have kept it. Both dials are very smart and the casebacks are lovely too.
I would have a look at the chrono version if I were you - it is bigger and quite impressive on the wrist.
Spotted these two beauties in my local AD recently, and I keep finding myself walking back there every other lunch time :
A matching pair, each 35mm with acrylic crystal, and "reasonably" priced.
And, they look a lot, lot better in the metal than they do in the crap Longine web photos!!
I thought I preferred the black dial to begin with, but the other is growing on me more and more....
They strike me as being the epitome of a classic vintage watch, especially in 35mm.
Jim :)

So clever my foot fell off.
The black version is lovely, not sure about the date at 12 though :?
Two beautiful vintage reissues Jim. :)

Neil.
Date at 12 is an old Longines style.Originally Posted by phil h
I actually prefer date at 6 or 12 as it balances the dial better IMO.

Jim - either one imho.....I have seen these in the flesh and they sit bigger on the wrist.

Go for the white. Black dials were not very common 'those days'.

Two lovely and affordable pieces.

Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
I've owned the black dial version previously, purchased for about £230 from ebay. Absolute bargain which I sold on through the forum.
I also very nearly sold my 40mm sapphire version, but decided once the next payday came to keep it:
I find the 40mm version feels a bit more 'normal' when worn in rotation with larger watches. It's much rarer to see these in AD windows and retails for about double the price of the smaller version.
Isn't there a certain forum member who went through about 5 Conquests...buying then selling then regretting and buying again?! I can understand the madness though...it's a simple classic piece that you miss when you sell.
Both very nice pieces imho.
I got this one in 18ct in a managers sale for £1250
Even the strap buckle is 18ct too.
It looks superb in the flesh

Looks great in gold! 8)
Go for the white dial, and consider also the 40 mm with sapphire crystal, IMO its size is more appropriate for normal use these days.
Mine is on its way to me ... :P

Ha, I was just going to ask if they came in Gold, and the next post was this.....gorgeous, classic and perfect!Originally Posted by Griff
Yes, I'm glad Longines produce this watch pretty much "as is" without changing the design too much from the original. It would have been easy to go for a modern take on the classic design, but instead they stuck to the original.
I lusted after one of those for a long time, but when it came to pull the trigger I changed my mind at the last minute and bought a Master Collection one instead.
I still like them though.
Both very nice, but the white is just the dogs.
Right, I'd better get saving, then!
The 35mm would definitely be for me, I have a number of vintage 35mm watches and I've become quite a fan of this size, particularly in acrylic.
I agree with you about the 35mm
Getting watches like this in 40mm just kills the character IMO
