There are a few YouTube videos stating 380 - 400bhp. US cars are that as standard.

Love the look of Supra. Do you have a picture??

Is that the B58 engine? If so it is a great engine, my M240i is now above 80k miles and still doing great, did have some recent issues which cost a fair bit and ended up being something simple to fix. Great daily driver, decent MPG - 30+, and very very fast when you want it to be. Also, a stage 1 makes a huge difference and can be done on your phone via BM3, mine has had a stage 1 for the last 40k miles and it is turns it from being quick to very quick.

Yes it is. Running in at the moment but seeing 36mpg for the first 500 mile. 32 mile commute to work on mainly dual carriage and motorways is returning 40 which I’m happy with.

Something that does concern me is 19k before it’s first oil change. No running in service. I may look at an independent oil change only at something like 5k.

Even v8 engines can be frugal if you are light on the pedal, took my 5.0 to Brize last weekend and got 29mpg.. not as fun as getting 15th but still it can be done :-)

The service intervals are shocking, way too long, I tend to service mine every 8-10k miles using Millers EE C3 performance 5W-40, which is BMW LL-04 certified, I think BMW recommends 0W-20 which I have been advised to avoid. I buy the oils and take it to a local BMW specialist, I got a service booklet off ebay and record everything in there.

The other issue with the long service intervals is the oil filter breaks down, it falls apart when you try and remove it leading to a much bigger job to clean it out. Seems a very common problem with this engine, apart from that they seem a very strong engine.

Thanks for the advice. The car has a service pack on it so it has to go to BMW.

I’ll look at an ind doing an oil change in between scheduled services.

Things change but my long term plan is to keep it beyond the financial agreement so I want to keep it well maintained.

I would say enjoy, but there is no way you won’t look like a Cheshire Cat all day grinning away.

    Thanks, I'm loving it!
Yeah, I had a Guards red 718 GT4 and a Taycan cross turismo from them (and I did by 2 BMWs from the same group too) which probably helped!
Got given the allocation in May, delivered yesterday!

Yeah, for sure! The engine (although I'm still being careful) is unreal. I thought the 718 GT4 was a cracker but this is another league. The sound and the shifts are another level! (And it's much louder!)

What is the colour? Looks fantastic. These current GT3s really suit darker colours.

I'm a complete A6 convert..... it's a diesel so nothing exotic under the hood sadly

It's a very nice place to do any journey. Think this will be my last big estate, kids have their own cars now and the requirement for such a large car has significantly reduced. Still useful though for load lugging and dog transportation duties.

I'm doing quite a lot of miles again and I'm not convinced I'm ready for the switch to Electric quite yet.

Thanks! I love it. It is agate grey! I originally was going to go GT silver but at the last minute went slightly darker and after having too many cars with dark wheels, wanted silver again!

Too many Shark blue/Crayon and other flat colours out there in the 992 shape!

Tried to keep the spec classy, so I didn't opt for carbon trim (like I did in my GT4) and the car looks far classier for it; it's a bit more like the 996 generation, which was my poster car when I was at school (See attached picture of a slightly wonky 996 GT2 in my maths book, nearly as good as your art Adi :P)

    That's a great drawing!

And I think you made the right choice with the colour. I wasn't sold on the current GT3 until I saw it in the darker (but not black) colours. I am a big fan of GT Silver, but I think this suits the shape much more.

Agree completely, love my CGTS in GT Silver, it just works. Had wanted Agate Grey but fell for the GT Silver. My wife also wanted Agate Grey and 100% didn’t want another white car before we bought a white Boxster lol.

The slightly menacing colour of the Agate with the wing, vents and Aero just says enough without shouting too hard & the lack of carbon bits was a good call.

Was showing my father in law these pics earlier. He is very jealous despite picking up a 911 GTS cab only a couple of moths ago, and it has a rattle DEEEEEEP in the dash somewhere they cannot locate. Driving him nuts.

Funnily enough my old car was named Gary by MrsV.

    BMW E88 diesel tractor.

    picture share

Just traded in against this, which is a much more modern hoot to drive.
Honda 1.5 Vtec Turbo Sport Plus.

    picture share

Thought I was going to miss Gary, but that lasted about 3 minutes after driving the Civic.

Last drive of the season before I put her away for the winter.

  23. #7973
I am hoping to at least see out September before putting anything away. I feel like I definitely didn't get enough out of this year driving wise.

As a winter project, new engine to turbo exhaust system for the 930, turbo preventatively rebuilt (nothing wrong with it, but it is 34 years old and since it will all be apart, might as well), and am designing some stripes to add a bit of colour to it. I saw a car at the Petersen which had really great stripes so it inspired me. I also want to get a second set of wheels to paint in a different colour and keep these original ones as they are.

Definitely gets a lot of attention when driving around. Picked it up from a service last month, the guy behind me at the traffic lights taking lots of photos, and again at the supermarket. A lot of smiles per gallon!

Fun fact, this car was a joint project between Suzuki and Mazda. It was also sold under Mazda's sub-brand as an Autozam AZ1.

I still regularly drive my polar silver 1996 (993) Carrera 2 manual coupe.
Although I bought it over 10 years ago I still look back at it in the car park when I walk away.

With your creative skills this striping will be something special, I'm sure! Same goes for the painted wheels. Those ideas from the '50s, '60s, with wheels painted in a different colour than the car weren't so bad! Sometimes a little change makes a huge impact. E.g. the wheels by Magnus Walker/Urban Outlaw.

I won't mind reading a new, dedicated thread from you about your plans, ideas and the result.

Top down season definitely done over here. I'll put the car away for winter most likely early October, by then it starts to be cold, wet and roads are full of slippely leaves.

I've had a good driving season, I've done three track days and I still have a trip to Estonia coming up next week.

The Magnus Walker wheels are the current front runner. I originally wanted a set of E50 BBS, but they are so hard to clean I kind of talked myself out of it. The other option was just another set of Fuchs done RSR style, but that seems like a lot of cost for a very small change. The Walker ones seem like the best of both worlds and I wouldn't feel weird painting them any colour I want (probably something to match the stripes).

I have ordered a Fabspeed exhaust from the US, so am waiting for it to arrive. I wanted to retain the heat exchangers, so my choices were limited, and the FS system looks fantastic and comes with everything needed.

The Walker wheels are a great starting point! And like you, a weird paint would look great. (I can hear my wife say: "Frozen berry metallic!" but personally, I have my doubts ).

When you think of Porsche that’s the exact style/era of 911 I think of.

No idea on comfort or practicalities but that is beautiful

I'd go for some Group4 ones - I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of the Walker Wheels. I've never seen a car which with them on and think they've improved the look

Obviously compared to the latest models such as the 992 the air cooled models like the 993
feel very antiquated in some ways- but there are some advantages to the old models -primarily the size, they are compact
and agile….new 911’s feel huge in comparison.
Also the handling is arguably much better and exciting in the old 911’s ie: steering feel etc………..
Someone once said driving a new watercooled 911 was like having sex wearing a condom
whilst driving an aircooled 911 was like having sex without wearing a condom.

But having sex without a condom carries a much higher risk of catching an STD.
Pretty much like the risk of the car taking the inexperienced driver off the road.
I’ve never driven an old Porsche (closest I got was when I test drove a 996 that I was thinking of part-exing my NSX for) but from everything I’ve read, there was a real skill needed to get the best out of the 993 and previous era 911’s, which a lot of people didn’t/don’t have.

The 930 turbo was known as the widow maker and had a tendency to be unpredictable under power however
I was unaware that the naturally aspirated models were particularly dangerous and I’ve owned several

The 930 Turbo has a few peculiar traits, but if you are aware of them and sensible, it's easy-ish to drive fast. If you mess up there is no safety net, it will spin you out, but you really have to be daft and well beyond legal territory, which in the 80's a lot of people were. When new the 930 was a very different thing to most things around at the time and people jumping into them from something like an E-type would've been in for a shock. When the turbo comes on it pulls like a train, but the tricky thing is that once it's boosting it will keep accelerating even if you don't move the throttle (since the boost keeps building) so it's not an exact science, you just have to feel the throttle/turbo/speed balance. So people unfamiliar with them might be going on full boost, get to a corner, but the car keeps accelerating, so they lift off suddenly and BAM, you're off. To do a controlled drift in one of them is very tricky indeed and not something I'd dare attempt on the road.

The steering is unassisted, the clutch is really heavy, the brakes need a firm shove and have no ABS. It's raw and exciting.

964 got ABS and power steering, and 993 Turbo went AWD, so became less demanding and but more dulled. My 997 Turbo is much faster in all conditions than the 930, but doesn't feel anywhere near as special (even though it's still very much an analogue car). Even going 30mph in the 930 feels like an event.

Anything with the weight slung that far back will have spikey handling characteristics, to some extent, approaching the limit of adhesion. It’s just physics.
It’s why you don’t see more mainstream mid-engined cars, their traits are not something people are more generally used to.

I’m more than happy to have a front-engine/RWD car moving around a bit, but not something I’ve ever felt comfortable with in a mid-engined/RWD or rear-engined/RWD car. And in no way am I claiming to be a very good driver!

Its stunning and crayon is a lovely colour, a very modern nardo grey almost. The aero kit is a very rare option and I’d be very happy if it were mine.

I know what it is, and I love it.

Any chance we can get some better photos than this though?

Thank you - walk past a matte black one on the way back from the gym. Has some strange carbon additions to the alloy wheels that I’ve never seen before.

The difficulty in driving these things are way overestimated and I'm definitely no driving God
Tricky in the wet but no more so than the BMW F80 M3 I had or my old MR2
