Thanks Peter - it was off the road for 4 years and if you saw that Nutz thread... I was lucky I didn't lose the car when it got lifted on a forklift! I'd had it stored in a local garage but the owner went out of business. Didn't tell me.... first I knew was when a friend called to the house to tell me to get up there quick as my MX5 was on a forklift being taken away!

This was the car, June of this year:

I'm in Waringstown Tom... so only a few miles away indeed. James is an absolute genius at detailing. His paint correction and ceramic coating on the car have it looking like liquid metal. Andrew from DentsNI a few doors round is the same - performed magic on the car. Removed a major dent from the passenger door and about 9 minor dings.

I seem to have failed to update this thread.

The Exige Sport 380 made way for the 410 in July

and in August the Clio 182 Trophy was sold to buy this for both the wife & I to have a bit of fun in

Excuse the Q&D pic but I've not had time to clean it since the new tyres were fitted & the lowering springs (plus uprated ARB's) went on. Previous pictures where it's lovely & clean show it with the almost 4x4 like factory stance.

    Yeah of course there are.....
Audi have managed to tuck everything away quite nicely, so these go pretty low (static) without much scraping of parts. You just have to be careful over aforementioned speed bumps. I do get the occasional rub of the tyre on the arch liner, but that's mostly because the 255s are a touch wide.

I've got over the 'needing something fast all the time' thing, that car is 161bhp and about 300 ft lbs, but it's adequate and I can sling a couple or three bikes on the roof and fill the boot up with all of the other crap of modern life.

Did you go for the 1.5 or the 2.0? I looked at a soul red 2.0 RF last week but its an awkward looking thing from some angles. Yours looks MUCH nicer with the soft top. Properly proportioned.

Oh... Lotus is a beast of a thing! Gorgeous!

I went for the 2.0L. It's a 2015 car so about 165bhp as standard vs the 185bhp of the current cars.

I wasn't tempted by the RF at all. I too think the soft top is nicer looking. I'm sure the RF is quieter with the roof up, but it's heavier (just where you don't want extra weight) there is more to potentially go wrong and with the roof down you're still quite enclosed (a bit like the Exige with the roof off).

The soft top is lovely & open

but especially with the windows up, there is very little buffeting. Yes you need to clean & proof them every 6 months or so, but it's not a big job and the soft top is so quick to raise & lower it really encourages top down driving at every opportunity.

Cheers. My perfect spec would be a bolder colour, but black does look really aggressive.

Very nice. A neighbour has one in the same colour, bronze wheels and a bbr turbo. Cracking thing.

I’m in Richhill but my daughter lives in Waringstown. Andrew took a dent out of the front wing of my Boxster earlier this year and sorted the boot lid of my other daughter’s Golf - he is very good. Small world.

Day off work today so spent the afternoon giving it a going over with Zymol

    Rarely see them these days.

Had forgotten they were mid engined!

Looks in great condition for the age, clearly looked after.

Yours looks in very good condition.

No it’s not the LE500, but was fitted with leather seats. I bought from the same place as you on the A1.

    good stuff
Yep got this from Trophy cars on the A1,
I had a 1999 1.8 MGF previously and sold due to circumstances at the time, I'd happily have that one back now but I'm more than happy with this as a replacement

I px’d my 1972 MGB. I sometimes regret the change. But the tf is a great ride, done the North Coast 500 last year, just under 2000 miles taking 10 days. There were 8 other classic cars in our group. It was just brilliant.

We were going to do a Wales trip in May but COVID spoilt all that.

It’s worth a stop just to have a look around, they also have a indoor showroom. They certainly have a lot there, and the service is 1st class.

The NC 500 trip sounds great, sure you will get to Wales sometime in the future.
MIne will primarily be used for commuting and the odd weekend away, not the most practical but good fun.

Mine’s used for fun days out, and short breaks away. Not enough packing room for all the wife’s shoes.

A few months back I bought this S54 Laguna Seca blue Z3m coupe.
It had 2 previous owners, the vendor had owned it 18 years but only covered 3500 miles in the last 11 years.
I’ve never owned one before but have to say I absolutely love the way it drives.

  24. #6274

Lovely car, best colour and rare with the S54 engine. Get out and drive it and it'll still be worth more than you paid for it.

    I had a Boston Green S50 roadster in 2004

Got to agree, had a few nice motors in my time and none has made me smile as much as this.
Personally I think these would be at the top of the Top gear cool wall

Agree with this, bought my low mileage two year old T6 with new camper conversion in the summer, hardly any difference in price to a similar age and mileage camper that was not VW. But compare ten to fifteen year old ones from other makers compared to VW campers the same age and the VW ones have held up to 10k more of their value.
Very nice bus by the way G.

Yeah, I rented a California a while back but £60k+ was mental for what you got...again, they hold their value so depends on how you look at it.

  35. #6285
I don’t think £60k is a lot for these considering the quality and spec of them. Very functional vehicles, sporty looks and well built.

    Have a Toyota C-HR. 1.8 hybrid top spec, I’ll surprise you - it’s a company car.

Can’t be many other 27 year olds that drive one...which I do sort of like.

That looks spectacular. On the Eurotunnel last year I had a red one behind me, sounded excellent. Chap had bought it in the UK and was driving home to the Netherlands IIRC as they were so much cheaper here!

I love the interior, too - looks proper old school! Enjoy it.

What a beauty, would love to own one of those. Although sadly I think I have missed the boat and don't have a garage to keep it in.

The looks are an acquired taste, but I always liked them.

Sure it's a hoot to drive - The convertibles had a reputation for being a very flexible chassis, but the roofed car is supposedly much stiffer.

If only I'd known just how much these three would be worth today - all sold for relative peanuts 'back in the day', and all in immaculate condition when I sold them

ps - anyone know why I can't see these images (which are hosted on my own website) in Chrome, but they appear fine in IE, Edge, Tapatalk etc ??

Very nice, contemplating changing back to the T6.1. What brand are the seats/rail system - doesn't look like the VW Caravelle system

    Thanks-
I’ve wanted one for ages, about 10yrs ago I went and looked at two or three for sale but they just weren’t the right cars......
This one cropped up for sale a month or two after Covid kicked off....in the U.K. there’s only 4 Laguna Seca blue factory painted Z3m Coupes
so I didn’t want to miss the opportunity as it’s always been my favourite colour
