I had the 2.7D version, so not quite as refined as the V8 - they're just such a handsome car.

I test drove the estate version back in the day. Sublime engine, if only it had a bit more front legroom for us taller types.

I’ll have mine MOTd too but applying for free tax felt very satisfying.

My father has the 2.7D and was one of the first people in the country to own the XF when it was just released. Lovely car and drives so agile despite it's size. He paid a lot for it and would be lucky to get £6000 now, more £5000 to £5500 now. If my wife didn't get me to get rid of my car so that I could have the 1 series I would have snapped the XF up from my dad.

How are XF owners doing for rust?

Mine is doing very well. I have a 2012 XFR which I love. I can't see any rust on it.

Thanks guys! In hindsight the n/a V8 would have been plenty enough but this was such a great example. I have enough legroom for my 6ft, but I wouldn’t want to sit behind myself ... No rust apart from the boot which apparently is a known issue - I had the dealer fix that for me as part of the deal.

    Lovely XJ & XFR above.

Love the E-Tron, looking at that also as my next car or the Merc EQC. Interested to hear how you get on with the Audi also.

Kirk , from April of its 41 st year ( unless you can prove the car was built in January) Take V5 to your local postie, they tick a box saying historic vehicle. Car is then “ taxed” for free, your new V 5 drops through door about 3 weeks later. From then on all tax can be done on line. As soon as your MOT runs out it will not stop further years taxing. However quite annoying is the fact if you run the .gov MOT check, it will come up “ This vehicles MOT has expired “

I have a 60 plate XF 3.0 diesel and there are no rust issues, the cars done 49000 miles and drives very nicely, they’re excellent cars. Plenty fast enough, smooth engine, smooth auto box, excellent stereo player, ticks all the boxes for me. I’ve owned it 9 years and I’ll keep it till it starts costing too much money to maintain.

Plenty from me, had my 57 plate SL350 sport edition nicked off the drive last year sadly, I just love the shape of them and the roof mechanism is a work of art... might get a newer version at some point but my divorce may well delay that somewhat!

Lovely car. Keeping the boot-placed control electrics can be a challenge, but sorted by drain clearing and seal cleaning. Beautiful to look at and cruise in. I still miss mine (went back to a Boxster).

Lovely cars to be in and drive. So quiet even at motorway speeds with very little external noise getting into the cabin. Very comfortable and stupidly quick when you need them to be. I've heard them with the Spires exhaust fitted and they do sound great. Much overlooked cars vs M5, Mercedes AMG and Audi S and RS equivalents.

Loved these when a kid. Aim to get a 55 AMG at some point, when AMG’s were quite the rarity and not normality.

Picked this up today, someone spent 22.5k on options which made this a bargain! Was really surprised how good it is coming from a Mercedes.

Looks like my mate Ady's, he had similar wheels and loads of extras.

Didn't spend quite that much on extras on mine but still love it!

I only ever get lease cars now and cancelled my BMW 840i lease deal after lockdown to get this instead.

VW T-Roc R, great price, lovely colour and I have to say every time I drive this car it puts a massive smile on my face, exhaust sounds great as well in Race mode lol, 0-62 in around 4.5secs in a T-Roc???

I've gone back to an Audi RS6 - my third and arrived around 2 months ago. Was dyno'd at 734bhp and 898lbft torque but I couldn't live with the stupidly loud Milltek exhaust so had that swapped out for a standard Performance item resulting in a loss of an estimated 20/30bhp..............but still plenty! If you want to listen to what it was like, and I got rid of, watch THIS video of the black RS6. I'm 55, not 25!

    Here's a sales picture:

That colour is stunning is it a special order? I remember Jay Kay had an orginal RS6 in a similar colour.

    Yes it would!
But honestly sounded like the same car. One owner low mileage with an eye watering list of extras including engine bhp boost!
Anyway enjoy! I really like mine, have the 240bhp diesel and it goes really well for it. Also handles better than it ought to.

It's an Audi special order called Merlin Purple. I was keen to move from the usual greys, blacks etc. of most Audis but not precious about it.

It's a lovely colour in sunlight but almost looks black in a dull day. It's quite a common RS colour and has been on the standard paint palette for some of the cars and Exclusive on others.

Nice 993 too, that's certainly an unusual colour and I like the Fuchs style wheels.

The 993 certainly took a bit of getting used to. The clutch is heavy, the pedals are off-set towards the centre of the car. The steering is heavy compared to a modern car and it has a distinct 'aroma' .. some might liken it to petrol or other fluids used to keep the car going.

It is far from pristine, a 1994 C2 in polar silver, running on genuine Fuchs wheels. I always thought silver Porsches were dull as ditch-water but this particular hue reminded me of my old C5 RS6.

Sitting on 113k miles and just failed an MOT, the a/c leaks like a colander, the brakes need re-doing, the engine cooling fan is shot, the speedo needs a gentle 'tap' to waken it up at times, it has no radio so will be sourcing one of the 'new retro' PCCM modules. Plenty to keep me interested.

I'll probably look back at this post in six months or so and accuse myself of reckless naivete - but I love the little thing to bits! You can use quite a lot of the rev-range at legal speeds, something I can't do in the 599.

Now that’s very cool and wish I’d bought one a few years ago before prices went crazy.

I’ve posted mine before but some decent photos were taken by other people at Caffeine & Machine last night
