550kg, 1216cc Climax, 40dcoe Weber, ZF gearbox, original suspension and brakes, Dunlop CR65 L sections...if it had ballast it would be Appendix K.

Lovely M5. Is it Imola Red?

As an aside, the thread title needs updating to ‘what’s on your drive’. The verb is currently pretty much redundant....

    You're right!
Picked up the car on 4th March but according to the app I've only covered 305 miles since then. And by a weird coincidence have enough in the tank to do another 305!

Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

Have this sitting on the drive which I got in December. Not driven for 2 weeks and maybe just me but was a nice day when I did drive it but didn’t seem right to drive with the top down

You don't see many for sale but I didn't realise they were that rare. Imola looks great on the M3 of that era too.

Delivery was planned for 27th March, but delayed for obvious reasons.

My first Alfa, and to replace my black Audi A4 estate, which friends call the hearse.

I’m really keen on the red with the black wheels and trim.

My Golf R is due to go back to the lease company on 5th June - They've offered an 'up to 6 months' extension on the same terms, but I'm going to wait and see if there's any chance of me driving anywhere first!

If you’re with VWFS, they give 20% off with a phone call on an extension.

So VWFS have a standard 20% discount option if you extend your lease and ask. I’ve personally benefited from this 1 year ago tomorrow, as have friends and colleagues. The only variance is that we all extended for 1 year, not 6m.
As far as I’m aware, 20% is both standard and the maximum. There’s an admin fee of around £50 to pay as well.

Right now, VWFS don’t want the cars back. They cannot collect them, they cannot send them through auction, and they will likely have to tax them, all while earning no money on the asset. I doubt you’ll need to play hard ball, and just be open about knowing others have had 20% off with VWFS.

The one thing I’d say from my experience and friends/colleagues is that VWFS admin team are quite incompetent. Make sure you get them to email you the paperwork.

Totally agree with the view that VWFS admin is incompetent. That’s been my experience with my wife’s GTI lease. Keep every bit of correspondence.
This should be a good time to try a hard deal to buy the car, for the reasons already set out. VWFS can’t easily collect it, can’t auction it and will have a massive glut of cars when this is eventually over.

I currently have driven a whopping 220 miles since picking my cayman up, not even a tank of fuel & is currently covered in dust on the driveway.

Will wash it over the weekend again & have my wife take it for her commute as a key worker just so it gets a run out.

Was a great hobby & relaxation of mine to go out early or late in the car, few cars about and just enjoy driving. Roads are perfect at the moment, but I refuse to be daft.

Took my Lotus to work yesterday with the roof off. To be honest I did feel a little guilty as it could well have looked like I was out just for a jolly, however that was tempered enough by enjoying the drive.

So I thought I’d join in the lockdown ‘fun’ and give the Macan Q5 a quick clean.
Snow foam with AG Polar Blast and jet wash off with Nilfisk jet wash.
TBM wash with Meguairs Gold Class shampoo and microfibre wash mit
    Jet wash off
    Dried with microfibre towels
Once over with Poorboy’s Black Hole via hand applicator and buff with microfibre cloth
Once over with Poorboy’s Natty’s Paste via hand applicator and buff with microfibre cloth
    AG Fast Glass
Usually do Meguiars Endurance Tyre Gel but went with AG Instant Tyre Dressing this time

Does washing in that stuff make a Q5 into a Macan? If so, that's certainly magic!

    Yes, sorry.
There's a long standing bit of 'banter' on the UK Porsche Owner's Facebook page where Macan's are described as 'just a Q5' by some of the more snooty members.
I copied/pasted my post on there into here and forgot to change Q5 to Macan!

I still assume all SUV drivers are embarrassed to be driving the things, I can't get my head round the concept of anyone thinking one SUV might be better than another SUV.

There are a few of them that would make almost decent looking cars if they had the bottom foot or two lopped off. The weirdest ones try to look like coupés on top, as if even the cars are embarrassed. But, each to their own.
