Yes 124 but 500E pre facelift. Arguably the best MB ever built!

These where the only cars to be built in collaboration with Porsche going between the two factories taking 18 days to hand build. Never designed to take a V8 so had to be shoe horned in, suspension set up designed and made by Porsche. All LHD and the Q car of its day.

It was very good car on that era. Called "Porsche killer*" or "Autobahn express". Very fast and capable sleeper. But I'd be more careful with calling any MB model to be the best ever :-)

*) There was an agreement between Porsche and Mercedes, that MB won't build W124 500 in coupe body, to not compete with 911/928. That cooperation was quite close. Porsche used C124 car as a test mule for one of upgraded 928 engines.

Not as fast or fancy or expensive as most of the cars shared on here, but a wonderful car for me and step up in class from anything I've had before. Had it a couple days now and love it! Excuse terrible pictures

I have a 55 plate Merc Vito, currently held together with rust and good fortune. It’s my go to vehicle for biking as I can sleep in the back with a bike alongside. It’s also great for tip runs as I valet it inside by taking a big brush from the front to the back.

My main vehicle is a BMW 430d Gran Coupe. Bought it as my wife’s company car went back, and I saved a third off list by buying it pre-registered with delivery mileage.

No kids, but we need 4+ seats and doors due to the dog going on the back seats.

    Moved from the wrong topic

Finally I managed to put together the cars that I've been dreaming for a while....and the boat :)
    The Mustang is from 2014 and it's a V6 3.7litres,the boat only has 90hp but 2stroke (ETEC) and my big boy is a 2019 Ford F150 5.0L V8
Why?Because we don't have childrens and we never will(sadly) and also because if I don't have a big credit to pay back to the bank I don't feel alive:).....this way the bankers are praying for my health to be able to pay them back :)

Not really....The F150 has an average of 18MPG in it's first 11k km of life...
    Highway even 25MPG.
    The Mustang.....pretty much the same....

Luckily nothing of that nature! She’ll crawl in and sleep most of the time, but doing it without a dedicated door for the back seats is tough as she’s not the most coordinated.

Looks like it’s on winter tyres which should help immensely. I’ve managed to lose the backend on mine a couple of times now in slightly damp conditions, serious brown trouser moments, so much so that I’m getting the rear tyres changed.

  16. #5616
It is. Even with winter tires. Turning traction off and accelerating turns the thing regardless of what rubber is on :)

Difficult to beat this performance-wise/value for money
9 years old this year and worth a max of £10k, still in almost "mint" condition
and under 40,000 miles, I only do a few thousand miles a year in it - mainly a few longish trips "up North"
bought from David of this forum and it's a "keeper"

One that only gets used in the summer - I've had this some time - 11 years old this year and only 25,000 miles

Petrol 9 3 Aero Turbo - I've always loved SAAB's and have had quite a few in the past

After looking for a practical hybrid estate within budget for ages, I decided the car I want doesn't quite exist yet and decided to buy something fun for a few years (before they ban anything too fast!). Having always resisted anything beyond a basic engine, this 340i is proving quite a blast. It flies completely under the radar and could be any 3 series, especially in eco / comfort mode with the exhaust dampened.

However switch to sport mode and the exhaust roars into life; the throttle, suspension and steering tighten up and it feels seriously quick. A perfect dual purpose car. Plus it's an estate for visiting Ikea ;-)

The connoisseur’s choice clearly :-) I’m enjoying the dual exhaust look of mine too, a subtle nod.

    Thanks David

I cannot think of anything better - I sat in an M4 the other day, they are really discounting low mileage examples at the present time, but I still think the 435D X drive is the better buy - similar prices.

A friend of mine has Model 3 and can’t wait till we meet up to have a spin in it.

The Mk3 is a car I lusted over in my younger days. I remember a guy at school, his dad had a red one and I used to always admire it.

I spoke with a friend of mine about how it was like the day you swopped your old phone to an iPhone..... it was a huge change. Based off that he bought himself one. He hasn’t regretted it since taking delivery. Tesla gets a bad rep for some reason. But they are way ahead in the EV game and customer satisfaction, woke up the other month to 5% extra power from a software update...... won’t get that from other manufacturers.

Exactly your feeling for lust is what drove me to get this car and some others not listed. 80s kids are now starting to want certain items which were desired. Bit of spare cash in the pocket should make the prices jump considerably :-)

But mainly cool To use for a while

Actually prefer Sainsbury’s, and I will park there (at the far end), and wait for the white vans to park next to me .....

Nice spec but ...... I’d personally change the colour.

Vauxhall did a similar colour and yes I know it was on Vauxhall but a guy at work had a car in that colour and regretted getting it within a few weeks.

    What do you drive?

Will have had this lovely thing for five years in a couple of months. For the last couple of years I’ve thought about chopping it in and test driven quite a few alternatives, but can’t quite make myself get rid.

Still so much fun to drive and still feels special.

Anyway how are those brakes, you’ve not had them long, but guessing you can tell the difference, without much trouble?

I don’t think the stopping distance is that much greater than OEM but in saying that I have only done about 100 miles so not standing on them from any high speeds. The pedal feel does seem different, more smoother, which I am putting down to the discs being fully floating. Worth the money just for the looks! Telsey is taking his down to Silverstone on Friday with his new APs so is going to report back after some high speed runs, should be interesting.
