Thread: What do you drive?

It has the 918 rear wheels....evidently when designing the car the biggest hurdle the engineers faced was working out how to get the wheels to fit !?
The adaptive dampers are fantastic, the ride is nowhere near as harsh as I’d envisioned it would be.....even on crap bumpy local roads the lack of clearance in the wheel arch is seldom a problem - the car is very compliant.

That GT3 RS is just gorgeous, I bet it sounds amazing on full chat

  3. #4703
My mate has 2 of these.

At full chat, I was trying to hold on for dear life, the engine noise was merely a small buzz in the back ground!

And he has two other Porsches that are louder and scarier.

0-60 in..... Well, it doesn't actually make it to 60. But I don't care, its yellow. That's the main thing.

It's a gt3rs. You could order it in brown and not lose a penny from new.

A neighbour of my parents has one in Miami. Alongside these....

part of the appeal though for me was residual value- there were lots of lava orange and ultra violet
UK cars but apparently only about 5 in pts Mexico blue- so I hope not to take a bath when I sell.

A friend of mine has a Yas Marina M4 and it looks the absolute business!

Relatively cheap and cheerful, but it certainly does the job. First car in 5 years. Lots of boot space for my guns and hiking gear.

I reckon the S1 will be pretty good but surely you’ll be talking about an extra £10k ?

    Different league really.

    Agree, probably nearer +15K.

Had quite a few motors, I do like the Up due to its size. Looked at the Polo Gti also..... Golf R was too big for what I want/need.

My JCW (F56) even with variable dampers was awfully firm. Combined with short wheelbase & poor seats had me aching after 30 mins of driving. M4 by comparison is just a joy comfort wise; did a 370 mike round trip this week & felt perfectly fresh at the end.

I always found the clutch to be un-necessarily heavy in them and there was an uncomfortable ridge around the top of the gear-knob.

F56 clutch was way better than the R56 which felt really heavy. Hadn’t noticed the ridge when driving but know exactly what you mean by it.

My wife has an R56 Cooper S (being replaced by something bigger shortly) and I have always found the clutch annoying - heavy with the biting point right at the top which makes for sometimes jerky progress. My daily 997 has a far more progressive clutch that I'm used to.

loud and fast is an understatement, the Carrera GT is the most intense.

My Up GTi is now on 900 mile and its flipping brilliant.

If you need the power of 300hp, then don't buy it. Its not about tearing up the tarmac and chasing a Honda Civic or Golf R, it about having max fun and flinging it around.

It is so well made too, it honestly feels like a Golf inside. LED downlighting, heated seats, air con, heated mirrors, and besides my other car is a 400hp Porsche!

buy one! and wait 6 months plus for it to arrive ......

I concur - I enjoy driving mine more than my previous R...although I will look forward to buying something faster further down the line again.

I'm selling the manual 997.1 and buying an Exige

    Up GTi as daily though.

So borgouise! What a pompous fool I am

    And

That first pic is one of his garages, well it's a factory with a space for car worship. The other cars are amusingly spread around the place. I stayed with him in May and borrowed a bicycle to nip into the city centre, and found a limited edition Lava Orange 991.2 GT3 RS in the garage at the house.

    "What's this?"
"Oh it's only for purchase if you buy a 918"

    Another world!

This thread is not helping me..... I sold my fun car (Boxster) when kid number 1 came a long.

Since then we've had a number of Peugeot's as my brother inlaw works for them. We get a stonking deal and a new car every 9-12 months. Currenty we've got a 308 SW GT.

The missus has give approval for a new fun car......

Took this out a couple of weeks ago. I've driven the MK2 Cayman 981, and I'd take the R everytime. Perfect road car. Perfect.
