Much nicer than the alternatives from BMW, Mercedes and Audi IMO.

Yup. I did consider/try some of those alternatives and chose this over them. I decided to change brand after owning 3 Range Rover Sports in succession and genuinely think XC90 does most things better. The main exception is off-road capability, which I did use in the previous cars but only occasionally and just for fun - didn’t need it. The tech in particular is a world apart!

So new job, new company car and having carried out extensive test drives, surprised myself by choosing this over an A4, Passat, V60 and PHEV. Great space obviously, but drive is pretty good, 2.0 TDI with DSG, as my commute traffic can be horrific

Good to get that one out of the factory before the bad news hit.

Nothing not to love with that! Can’t tell from the front if it’s a 991 or 992?

I had the 991 C2S a while ago and loved every single moment in it, the 991 is a superb piece of kit. Congrats and enjoy!

Decided i needed a rattly, slow, cold s#!t box for playing in the woods and an eventual trip to Morrocco and Namibia.

So bought this and am enjoying weekends of tinkering.

Plenty to do but next up is the timing belt closely followed by the swivel joints.

I like the idea of this.

Whenever we go to the States I tend to hire a Dodge Caravan or Grand Caravan- fast, very comfy and with loads of room.

You can’t get them over here.

Is yours a bit like that? Got any interior pics and more details? Is your based on a Transit Connect?

I am enjoying it very much, it has a charm that takes me back to driving some old hot hatches in my youth, it puts a smile on my face every time I sit in the drivers seat

Took it for a proper drive yesterday and my god this thing is capable!

It is certainly not for everyone but it is the first car (I could afford to own) that ticks every single box for me

I can get some pics of whatever you’d like to see but I don’t think it’s quite what you’ve been hiring in the States.

It’s a double can in van (DCIV) so basically just a panel van with a row of seats in the back. It has a bulkhead and a surprising amount of space in the back. This is based on the Transit Custom, there is a DCIV Transit Connect but they’re considerably smaller. The Sport Van that I’m in (170PS, leather trim, bit of a body kit) only has 2 front seats, whereas the model trims below (Limited, Trend and Base) have the extra bench seat to make it a six seater. There’s also a Transit Custom Tourneo which has all the panels glazed and comes as a 8/9 seater. Basically a little minibus/cab and more like what you’ve been hiring.

Unfortunately, the Tourneo doesn’t give such beneficial BIK as they are no longer classed as LCV so I’ve not bothered with one. That’s the main reason I started going into Rangers, although I got bored of the fuel consumption (22 at best) after the last one. I’m only in these vehicles for 3-6 months and have to say, other than when the new RS eventually arrives, I’ll be staying in a van/Pick-up. Modern vehicles on the whole are exceptionally dull.

Thanks for that - interesting. It might not be right for me, but do post up some pics if you get the chance, I’m always keen to learn!

No heated seats to my girlfriends horror but the bucket seats are really warm and comfortable (feel like alacantara) and she loves them, this is from a woman who Carries a hot water bottle through the summer

Used, but like new really, only done 13k miles.

You'd be surprised how much room is in them, I'm nearly 6'2" and fit perfectly!

I've been looking at the Twin engined volvos. I was thinking a V60 would do the job. Ut can't find an accurate release date anywhere.

Love the XC90. Just got a GLC but money no object the XC90 would have been top two.

    What do you drive?

I wouldn’t normally post a car, as being in the industry I have had a few but is awesome. Came home with me last night and it drives great. Massive improvement over previous generation and Hybrid too.

    Interesting...

1.9%APR on Toyota's PCP finance. That's sub inflation, that's virtually sub ISA rates !

    Collected today.

    Innocuous enough from the front...

A hint it might be a bit ‘nippy’ from the back...

    Lucky boy

Today after an idea that's been bubbling for 6 months, i finally picked up this V10 Manual R8 in Black with a Carbon Blade:

To say i'm happy with it is an understatement, had a drive through Central London to get it home which wasn't as difficult as i thought it would be, followed by a bit of a blast once further out.Can very easily see how it might cost me my licence if i am not very, very sensible.

Even the wife liked it, despite wanting not to very much!

Off out tomorrow to pick up a cheap Smart Car/ VW Up type 4 seater for those occasions when both parents need more than 2 seats!

I consider myself a lucky chap tonight.

That is a beautiful Audi. What model year is it ?

I have looked at these before and discovered they can be bought for the price of these warm hatchbacks that seem to be all the rage !

It’s a 2011 with 30k miles and been scrupulously looked after.

They can be had for 35k now but I suspect you’d need to know what you’re doing with a spanner to pick a good one at that price.
