Manual or DSG? How does the driving experience compare to the T5 Scirocco?

It’s a manual and it drives totally different to the Scirocco which is a DSG 2.0 TDi 177. I had it out round Weardale and Teesdale at the weekend and loved it.

I think I fixed the image issue

It’s completely standard, that’s due to me trying to make the image smaller 😂

A fully restored S3 Landie has joined the Austin-Healey, MX-5 and Subaru Forester. It's bloody marvellous and my four-year-old loves it (he's in the passenger seat, fast asleep). It's purely for bumbling around in the English countryside, we're not far from the New Forest, Dorset coast, lots of hill forts, chalk rivers to paddle in and all the other stuff we'll get up to. And pub trips, Le Mans weekends and so on.

I'm waiting for my X3 hybrid to arrive in a few weeks. Doesn't feel exactly great to be receiving an expensive are at this time, financially, but also the feeling for getting a new car is not right. Should I go and drive around proudly in my brand new luxury SUV when a lot of people are being laid off and the country is locked down? And I can't sell my old car either currently, no one is buying.

Maybe I ask if they could keep the car for a few months?

I keep looking at this, looks stunning. The plan was to pick up a convertible for the summer. Liked this and the less sensible supercharged bbr mx5 that was up. I'm in Chelmsford too but the whole virus lock down and uncertainty has made me think twice.
Looks like my stop gap clio might be staying for a bit longer.

E Class AMG Sport, premium package with pano roof. Cracking car with full pillarless design.
I have one of the previous generation C207 and I love it. I searched for ages to get one with real leather, as the majority have Mercedes 'Artico' (artificial cow). I eventually found a minter with just 15k miles, Napa leather, pano roof and all the options ticked. I intend to keep it for ages.

I'm wondering if taking food to my mother, 20 miles away, counts as a genuine reason to be out the house. She's looking after my Healey, I'm thinking I could drive the Landie over there (with shopping for the mother, obviously) and swap it over for the Healey for the drive back. The scenic way, naturally.

Well I'd like to be driving this!

Doesn't look like I'll be putting many miles on for a little while though. Food shopping tomorrow so a small journey at least.

Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

Sounds fine to me. Obviously if you get into your own vehicle and travel door-to-door in both directions you won’t have any contact with any other person, so will fully meet the objective of the lockdown. This is really nil contact and certainly less exposure than walking along an urban footpath for exercise.

Nice, thought about one of those before deciding on the F-Pace. Be interested to know how you get on with it.

Yeah that’s it. Mine is 2018 model with all options and real leather too. I got lucky finding it too.

Had it a while now but still love it. It is so clever and kind of drives itself - steers etc and will pull out and back into lanes when overtaking etc. Very neat.

Also the upgraded screen inside makes all the difference. Great car for the money IMO

    well done for buying British

We looked at the Sportbrake, lovely ambience inside, unfortunately, couldn't supply with the lovely V6 and AWD, hence a non starter....
Caesium blue is amazing in the sun, with ivory leather and pano roof - cracker !!

Then took their SVR FPace for a blast, and is just what it was - amazing feel, handling and well built - and not as 'common as muck' (as my X3 ...(M40i) - so that might be next (hear a new 6 pot might be on the horizon though).

JLR seem to be at last getting their act together
Currently enjoying our Ftype 400 Sport , absolutely brilliant, but that is, alas, being sold, as no space for our dog .... (MY mistake, I am being reminded often )

Will be interesting hear how you new Jag owners get on !

    Cheers, Peter

A beautiful 6 series! I was selling for BMW in 1988/9 and loved the 6s. Would dearly love an M635CSi.

I remember my dad having a 635csi when I was a child. Love that car then and now. Genuinely contemplated getting one recently, but without a garage, I decided to get an Alfa Romeo Giulia instead.

With a ton of time on my hands ive been doing stuff with this,

Installed bluetooth with newer factory modules, lowered a bit by playing with the ride height sensors.A few performance mods gained about 15 bhp and more to come.

    Currently in this....

Have to drive something practical (ie with a big boot) as have a massive dog and my missus is a relatively new driver and not confident in having a big car yet.

Once I can get her in something dog-friendly I’m going to back to a proper sports car.
