Help wanted posts in Watch Talk - forum good news

This post just to confirm, that it is indeed possible to seek help in Watch Talk and get said help from fellow forummembers without any profit involved for them.

In a time of distrust and people getting screwed over fakes and other scams and such, I am very happy to report, that we are still able to help each other out here on the forum.

Some time I fired off a question in Watch Talk and I recently saw another such "Help Me" post here in Watch Talk, where one sought someone to pick up a watch in Germany.

I recently posted a question whether or not someone in the UK could and would pick up a watch for me.

andy tims/Andy answered right away and volounteered to pick up the watch, as he passed by the sellers location.

Quite unselfish and with no profit in it for him what so ever except my gratitude and a mental note to myself, that if watches are ever outlawed in the UK like your guns, Andy would be most welcome to ship all his watches to me for safekeeping (actually, also his motor!).

I transferred the not unsubstantial amount for the watch to Andy, he picked up the watch and had shipped it to me like lighting in a Fort Knox-like package. A transaction smoother than owl snot.

What was involved for Andy was quite a few PM's and telephone calls between us, time spent on a detour to pick up the watch, packing and shipping the thing. As I assume, Andy did not powerwalk to the sellers destination, Andy would also have used a few quid for petrol. I of course mentioned, that Andy were welcome to be paid for his time spent writing, calling me and seller and for the petrol involved, but that was the only point where Andy ignored me. All other communication was very swift and I had barely fired off a "have youshippedityethave youshippedityethaveyoushippedityet," before Andys PM were in the forum inbox.

I can not thank Andy enough for doing this. Truly an act above and beyond the call of duty.

We may be focused on watches, but I think its also great, that there is still the occasional unselfish act out there.

    Let us keep it up.

    Thank you all.

Really good to hear Mr. Violins :D

I had the pleasure of meeting Andy at his house last year back when I was very green in the world of watches . I learnt a lot from him 8).

He's a top fella whose strap collection is almost as impressive as his watch collection!

    What can I say?

It really only took a small amount of effort on my part & I was happy to help Jesper.

It's good to hear a story like this, that there are people out there willing to lend a hand when needed in a quiet unassuming way.
    Nice one!
