Anybody any opinions on this Omega?

It belongs to a customer who's not on the forum and he's seeking information. I think it's probably 1946-52 and has had a War Department redial. Other than that, I know not a lot so anybody else got anything to add?

You could probably date it a little more closely by the movement serial number but apart from that you have said it all Eddie.

    Its just another w.w.w.

    Hi Eddie

Are you saying the MOD did the redial ? I'm not saying they didn't, but it's the first of this style I've seen. I'd be interested in a movement shot too, if you have one.

    Cheers

It's just that the redial is so crudely done I couldn't imagine anybody else doing it unless it's a DIY job. I don't have physical possession of the watch Foggy so can't take a movement shot.

I have no idea what I am talking about as vintage mil-watches are greek to me, but to my layman's eye the dial and the lume application are two different jobs altogether. Perhaps it was only re-lumed in the MoD pattern, without being properly redialed?

Any comments about the excessive length of the minute and second hands, or would that be o.k. for a WWW?
    Cheers,

    Martin ("Crusader")

You can get comprehensive info from www.omega.ch

If you give them the case, cal and movement they will date it and give model online .

If you contact them they will give fuller information and where the watch was originally sold.

a very good service for checking fakes.

Give it a try with any omega

    All the best

Unfortunately, as far as I aware, Omega is no longer providing this service. I'm led to believe that they now only provide this info when watches are sent in for repair/restoration. I hope this isn't the case, but I have heard it from a number of sources.

    Cheers

I heard the same thing Foggy. It is a shame as it was a wonderful service.

Omega has limited vintage service on their site

Through the Customer Service tab is Vintage Watch section.

Register to join and you can search by watch description, calibre ...

If there is info in database it will show on screen. Print and you're done.
