    Hamilton Mod. 22 - Finally!

:P Was finally able to pick up a "pocketwatch" style Hamilton Mod.22 Chronometer. Have had a box/gimbal mounted one for years, but never could get the portable one at a price I could afford. Photos forthcoming.

Now to find the accompanying "box".

Terry, thanks for the tip. I've already got the tub sorted as I already have the Mod.22 type in the gimbaled box.

OK, the Hamilton Mod. 21 and 22 have been produced in fairly high numbers. But if one reads the magnificent description in Marvin Whitney's book : "Military Timepieces" and one admires these timepieces in the flesh, a few conclusions can be made .
    1. The quality of these timekeepers was comparable to the BEST Swiss chronometers and deck watches ever made.
    2. The price of these ship navigation clocks is still very reasonable compared to the Swiss brands such as IWC, Lange, Wempe, Vacheron Constatin etc.
    3. I believe that especially the American collectors should try to save the incredible inheritance of Hamilton Watch Company, Lancaster,Pa, USA.
    4. I am sorry to report that from Mod 21 and 22 , exellent examples have been snatched by me in the USA, to be at my desk in Europe, to receive admiration and esteem from my watch friends all over.
    Regards,
    Adrian

So itīs you who always outbid me!...no just a joke Adrian, I also bought both model 21 and 22 , with their shipping containers inclusive. If anyone would like to see bigger pictures, Iīd gladly post. One doesnīt often come across the model 21 shipping container!

Re: Hamilton Mod. 22 - Finally!

It has to do with its condition but above all if matching boxes and containers and sometimes military papers are present.
Prices have gone up during the last 2 years. I paid for mine 1475 Euro in the US. Many were bought under 1000 $. But if you compare price/quality 1500 Euro's is still a steel IMHO!

    Adrian.

Sorry, I should have been clearer: I mean the Mod.22 deck watch.
