Omega 2254.50: non AC dial swap help.

I'm seriously considering swapping the dial on my Omega 2254.50 with the dial from the 2230.50 (the non ac dial with applied markers).

I was wondering where the best place to get the dial is, and also who can carry out the work and how much its likely to cost me.

Ofrei are selling the dial for about $200, which doesn't seem too bad. Any other places (UK based) where I might be able to source it?

And I assume once the switch is made, Omega wouldn't accept the watch for future service and I'd have to switch out the dial before sending it off.

Do you have the Omega case number for the 2230.50?

    Cheers

The case ref on those is 168.1642
Unfortunately Cousins only stock the hand sets for that one and not the dial so they would need to special order it from Omega if you didn't want to order one from Ofrei.

I assume a special order from Omega would take a while. My only concern with Ofrei is that they're based in the US, so I'd have to deal with shipping and customs costs.

Who ever does the swap for you should be used to sourcing Omega parts and be able to get it for you in with their normal parts deliveries.

Any suggestions on who could do the job well?

Any competent watch repairer should be able to do this. I could do it....but I don`t have enough experience to guarantee I wouldn`t mark something. Taking the movement out of the case is straightforward, removing the hands is straightforward then taking the dial off the movement is also straightforward. I`ve done all this on a BHI training course. The danger is in damaging the dial or hands.

To bring this to its natural conclusion... I ended up buying the dial from Cousins and Bry did the switch for me :) and I'm very pleased with the result.

Watch was pressure tested to half stated depth so around 150metres-165metres!

Never keen on testing to full depth as sapphires are expensive and if flawed will probably CRACK

That's very nice. "I don't normally like Omegas but" that one I could make a healthy exception for. That and the shiny "electric blue" version.
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

Thanks for the excellent pictures, it turned out beautiful. I have considered a similar swap, but never went for it. I've seen the dial on the Ofrei site, is Cousins pricing more pocket friendly?

Cousins came to £115 including RMSD, which is cheaper than Ofrei (around £130 excluding shipping and customs).

I'd go for the mod. It definetly improves the watch for me. The applied markers seem to balance better with the polished sides of the case and bracelet.
