The modern classic Rolex and worth keeping hold of too.

Absolute classic in the making - I prefer the cleaner non COSC - but there is not much wrong with that! 8)

    Thanks all :)

Are Rolex expected to discontinue this model? Or are they releasing it with the same updates as the Sub Date?

I have been led to believe that it will definitely be discontinued for an updated ceramic model, but of course no-one knows for sure until later this month at Basel.

I will be very interested to see if they use the better case and bracelet (the clasp adjustment is just brilliant and means anyone can get a perfect fit).

Any update to the 14060M will surely constitute a different model (or variant) making the current model quite collectible in the long term.

Peter, what's the clasp like on your Sub? Is it the same as a ceramic GMT (ie you've got to dig about with a pin bar tool "inside" the clasp) or the Deep Sea, or something different?
Personally I find the GMT2c one less adjustable (smaller range and tougher to get to) than the old clasps (although still perfectly useful), whereas I think the Deep Sea one is better, for ease of use and also for coolness of engineering. :D

It's a new one to me Cliff. There is 21mm fine adjustment because the clasp can be moved along a series of "notches" by hand - no tools required whatsoever.

EDIT: the Rolex brochure says it's only on gold models but maybe that's just because the new SS models haven't been released yet

EDIT the second: It seems to be similar to the DeepSea http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=37035 (they are both called the "Glidelock") but the drawings/pics look different to me (and the DS says 18mm adjustment).

I wonder if anyone has tried fitted one of these onto an SD, the worst part of the older models replaced with possible the best part of the newer ones?

Thanks. It would make sense that it was updated in line with the rest of the watches, but then anomalies like the 14060M still retaining the old bracelet cloud expectations somewhat.

Love this watch. Just bought an used 14060m (not COSC) myself some month ago.

For the moment I use this watch everyday. The 18 of march we will know if Rolex will continue this model, but i doubt.

I really like your photos, and the watch isn't bad either  . Did you take them with, an SLR or compact camera?

Thanks :D I used a Canon 500d DSLR plus a dark room and a bit of bounced flash :) Oh, and a little bit of Photoshop to up the contrast (I shoot in RAW format if that means anything to you).

I bought one of these a couple of weeks back - still sitting in the AD's safe until I pluck up the courage to tell the Mrs

I may be on my own here, but I like the fact that the bracelet is the same old rattly H.E.L and 'old' style clasp - it makes it feel more like the original .. the original that it is sadly the last of.

Your not alone. Feels rattly but it last and does its job
