really?! do you think this is a new tactic by retailers to bring it to us?Originally Posted by Broussard
Great idea but I don't see how you can substitute physically handling a purchase like a watch.
Great New World. Not for me....
I'm not as think as you drunk I am.
Thanks for the tip off, just tried to get the IWC Iphone app - but it say I require a iphone 3.1 software update!
A bit pointless as they send you watches on a try at home basis anyway.
Eddie has had an Iphone app for years now
Quality I like that!
i do that using sc  in the last 3 months, a speedy date, an oris tt1 chrono, an oris mark webber chrono, a glycine lagunare chrono, and now an seamaster bond quartz have all come in , not been "the one" and been back into sc. the search goes on. maybe i sould have a "flipper" rating instead of flash.... :? out of the all, the oris tt1 chrono is the one i shall miss, but at the time i thought i was going to have a massive heating repair bill so it went...sniff.....

going to have to try the iphone app out too!

It's not for me, but I like the idea of using technology in this way. If it helps some people then good luck to them.

Linde offers a 3 day trial, great idea IMHO
It's a cracking idea, and one that I fully intend to explore! Just waiting for the Oktopus...Originally Posted by taffytoon
I have this App. It's not the same thing. The IWC app is just a picture of the watch that you superimpose on a camera shot of your wrist to make one photo (and hope the watch is in proportion to your wrist). The Jura thing is full-on Augmented Reality and the watch size is in proportion to your wrist - very cool! 8)Originally Posted by Broussard

A few years ago Oris printed out life-size cut-outs of a chronograph in magazines; you just tore it out and strapped it on. Didn't need an iPhone.Originally Posted by Broussard
Also one can achieve much the same thing at home using a printer. Add cardboard to approximate thickness.
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!
That is awesome!!
Love the iphone version too
Agreed. Just thought I'd mention it!
Jura one is interesting. Two things to note:
1 - you're meant to print off and cut out a paper marker to get it to work properly - although it just about works without.
2 - the picture they use of the ALT1-C is the prototype, with black date wheel and the strap that never was. Hey ho.
Still quite cool tech tho.

PS - one of the best augmented reality apps is the Pocket Universe. D/l it to your 3GS. Hold it up to the night sky. Voila. It overlays the stars. Genius.

The time on Precista is 10:09 and the photo was taken on 10:08 thus the ideal time to take a watch photo
