Thread: Kin, anyone been watching?

    Kin, anyone been watching?

We’ve just finished season two of Kin on I player, think I’ve just seen one of the best gangster shows since The Wire…

Anyone else watching or watched it?

watched 2 episodes of series 2
Slightly crap tv when the granddad takes the grandson for a drive about the fields in the bmw .
The BMW is a brand new 3 series and then when the grandson thrashes it it's about 2 or 3 versions previous and then back to the new one when they park up.
Only thing similar was they were both silver.
Apart from that yes it's bloody good.

I was bugged when the new BMW pulled up in one scene, and you then hear the loud ratcheting sound as he pulls on the handbrake! Eh.... a manual handbrake on a new 330d? Dont think so!

Asides from that... binge watched it over just 2 days and LOVED it. Cracking show.

"Love Hate" was another similar one from a few years back. Dublin based.. same theme.

I binged it as soon as I found it on iPlayer - series one was excellent and I thought series two even better

Can’t believe the lad who plays Michael is the same guy who plays Matt Murdock in Daredevil, knew I recognised him from something but couldn’t place him. Same as the guy who plays Bren, last saw him in the movie Layer Cake, plays Paul the boatman. Have to say I really enjoyed it, both series tbf.

I'm about 3 episodes into season 2 and loving it so far. I think the actor playing Bren (grandad) has played his character really well and has stole a lot of the scenes

I like Francis Magee - he plays similar characters - Bren in Kin and Frank McDonnell in S2 of the Tourist.

I think he was in Eastenders in the previous century too.

I’ve just sat through two episodes of what feels like Eastenders set in Dublin, with mangled accents and characters I really couldn’t give a toss about.

Cant say i was that impressed with S1 a bit too obvious and irratitingly obvious 2d characters.
Picked up for the last few eps of S1 though.

    Is S2 better then?

We finished S2 last night. Good series.

Apparently there are doubts that series 3 will happen despite supposedly being filmed alongside series 2. The production company/financier went bankrupt last year:

Ha. And I thought I was the only one. Really struggled to get to the end of the second episode and won't be watching any more. Life's too short.
    Best Regards - Peter

Am sure in S2E2 Aidan Gillen’s glasses looked like they were AI / superimposed at the beginning. Very weird visual effect.

    Aside from that, love it.

Just hope it can be rescued, would be a shame to be left hanging.

As a Dubliner, I sat down to watch Kin with high expectations.

Poor plot, wooden acting, cartoon action, one-dimensional characters - we watched one episode and gave up.

I’m sorry to say but I’ve tried watching first two episodes of series one and I’m struggling with it. Forgive me for asking but does it get better as it goes on!

Starting watching Love Hate last week we are on series three now, really enjoying it. It’s a lot more gritty then Kin.

Thought it was extremely dull and badly acted.

Couldn’t get into it at all.

Way he’s series one and two recently and although at the time I thought this is ok upon reflection I’d give season 3 a miss if it did come out. As others have said, one dimensional characters and unbelievable storylines. Carrying out murders while your house is under police guard and the whole of the police force looking at you? Really far fetched…
