Its ok and plenty of literature can be picked up and lots of spares can be had, i was lucky enough to pick up one of Eddie's Dreadnoughts from a watch fair at the motorcycle museum last year.

Wish I had joined earlier and found out about sooner. Would have quite liked to have gone. Is there a section on here for notifications about things like this and info about other stuff like get-togethers and stuff like the Basel stuff?

    DAMN!!!
Only just noticed this thread. I've just got back from there.
Very busy indeed, I bought a nice minty Citizen Promaster
and a NOS Swiss Made, Chancellor De-Luxe Antimagnetic
from the early 70's. Spoke to loads of dealers, they all said
they done well out of today, exceeded their expectations,
    sales wise, some said.
I have been going to this watch fair since the 1980's, and
have always bought some nice items, before I lost my job
when money was plentifull, I picked up IWC, J le C, Omega,
Longines, Seko's, A.Lange und Sohne, alas, nowadays, dosh
is in short suply, so I am happy with buying Seikos, Citizens
    and G-Shocks.
There seems to be quite a few members on here in Brum, and
surrounding area's, The next watch fair is in March, if anyone
wants to meet up, then please let me know, I will remind you
    closer to the date.
If anyone else went, what did you think... :?:

    Re: Watch Fair Tomorrow

First time I've been, as well as watches there was loads of books, clocks and a large number of pocket watches.
I was impressed with the number of dealers there and all for a £1 entrance fee, well worth it if you live around Brum.
Lots of interesting stuff. My 16 year old son loved it. Didn't buy anything as January is a bad month !

I lasted longer today than my last visit. I was there 9:30 until 9:45. In that time I saw an Alpha watch being sold for £225, and someone wanted £180 for a Parnis. Been to three of these now and still not bought a thing  Wonder why!

I had to! I was on my way to visit my dad, who's in a hospice, so I shouldn't have been at the watch fair in the first place! I had to wash off the hand stamp on my way out

    Re: Watch Fair Tomorrow

I went, didnt buy anything though. Prices seemed high for 'a fair' imo although i think there was the odd good buy knocking about.

I dont know why but i was expecting to see some of Eddies pieces. I did see some old precista tool set.

Anyone buy this, I was still £100 short  getting him down to £625, for what would cost over £3,000 at list :? .
Never seen one before A different class of workmanship compared to the pieces in my collection

That was a pre-owned watch or NOS, right?
    Or u made a typo?
I am a newbie and comprehending that a new watch is reduced by 75% is beyond me

Fear not  it was used, but not to abused, I never got to ask if it had it's box and papers but I suspect not
Never the less I nice distinctive watch for the money.
Might try again next time, you would be surprised how many watches turn up again at the next fair, un-sold.

    Re: Watch Fair Tomorrow

It seems as though a few members went to this Watch Fair.
The organisers have added an extra date for this year, making
six fairs for 2010, the next one being March 14th.
If anyones going to this one, and wants to meet up, say, in
the upstairs restaurant, then please let me know.
I will post a reminder closer to the date......
