I’ve tried tons of whisky over he years - including some very expensive options.
I still come back to the normal 10 YO Laphroaig nd the 16YO Lagavulin as my go to whiskies.
Sent from my...
I've been drinking a Finlaggan Old Reserve this week. It's peaty and a little smokey but with a lovely sweet finish.
If I was buying for me, the Nikka would be a good call (or see my previous post on another). As aldfort says though, you need to define what type of flavours you like.
Gordon and MacPhail Bunnahabhain 2006... What a cracking bottle and at a reasonable price.
My normal choice would be a peaty, smoky hit, but this is completely the opposite (and quite delicate) -...
A big thumbs up on Laphroaig in its various forms. I am yet to try the 18 though.
Yep - couldn't wait. Cracked it open and the memories were accurate. What a lovely creation this is!
An impromptu visit to Waitrose this evening has meant an unexpected purchase... Nikka from the barrel. £35 for 50ml (you can no doubt find it cheaper elsewhere but I don't care), I'm rather excited...
That's the one.
I have never been in Lidl, but if there was one local, I'd pop in and have a try :eagerness:
Interesting one this... Glen Marnoch Limited blended malt.
My wife asked me to pick up some milk and I was passing Aldi so I popped in and bought the milk and took the chance to look at the...
I will bear that in mind next time I am looking for something new to try. Thanks.
Any particular Glendronach out of interest?
My dad bought me an Aberlour a'Bunadh Batch 46 for Christmas which I have cracked open tonight.
I'm normally a smoky/peaty whisky drinker, and this fits neither of those descriptions.
The...
I agree completely.
Picked up a new bottle of Glenlivet yesterday. Happy with that as I start to replenish (I managed to finish off the remnants of the Glenlivet, Laphroaig, Ileach, and Finlaggan over the past week and...
I think along the same lines. Unfortunately, I have either just finished or I am coming to the end of a number of bottles though. Certainly time to replenish.
Bargain
Japan is not a bad place to look, but you'll possibly be pushing the £45 budget.
An unusual whisky at a reasonable price (30ish quid if memory serves me right) is Finlaggan Old Reserve. Just been...
60? I like your style.
Ah the Laphroaigs in particular are a little heavy, but that's part of the charm.
Great choice. I'm still one for the smokey tastes, but Yamazaki 18 is lovely.
The Singelton's a nice choice.
I was "lucky" in that my dad's always been into malts so my education started in my mid teens. Plenty of time to make up for the missed years :playful:
Wow - what a great Christmas for presents I'll actually enjoy! A Glenlivet 12 (not my favourite as I typically like a smokey one, but not a bad whisky for the right mood), Ileach which appears to be...
