I’m left handed but over the years I’ve stop trying to change things and adapted to this right hand world. I do wear my watch on my left wrist.
Nice watch.
Thanks for your reply.
I can fit a staff but the issue is with roller, it broke when after I fitted a new staff that turned to be wrong?
Pete
I'm looking for either a complete movement or a balance wheel (not concerned about the staff broken or good).
Its a 1915 ish 11"' size, its 24.9mm on the largest diameter.
It is fitted to a wrist...
I've been searching since my last post so I would appreciate your views on this watch movement that is marked Peerless it looks close to me even to the centre second friction spring...
Thanks for this, I have already spoken to DB.
The LC is a close movement but there are some differences but its not out of the question.
The problem is that Stauffer did supply to many companies...
I find Pink pages are good for post 1920 but not always so good pre that date.
Pete
i need help in identifying this movement fitted to this watch.
It clearly says Staufer on the movement so I'm presuming they made it in the first place but it's not like a Stauffer Ive seen before....
The more I look at this the more I think the lugs have been replaced, the lugs measure 19mm and looking at the advertising of the time I think they are more likely to be 14mm. I can see evidence of...

I'm with you aldfort on the older watches but we might be in a minority.
Yes it is Mappin & Webb and the black faced versions are not seen so often.
Been after one of these for a while now and I think the wait has been worth while. Its a runner, thats always a bonus.

Looks like it could be a Moeris 16 only slight difference in the diameter but the keyless looks spot-on.
I'm hoping someone on here has come across this company Lawrence & Mayo, London. I've found out they are or were a high end retailer in optics and the like, also some reference to India. The case was...

I have thought about this question for a long time. I often wonder how these things get onto the open market in the first place. The granddaughter I've contacted had no knowledge of this...
Just an update, got the lugs repaired by a jeweller in the end my kit didn't give enough heat to melt the solder, upgrade would have cost £100 + so £40 at the jewellers this time.
I've even managed...
I thought it would be a Smiths based watch but I was wrong (again) but still pleased. Its got a Durowe 420, 17 jewel movement though the movement is signed LACO? It worked straight out the box from...
Carlton thanks for that I also read that the cal 12-4-P was a short production run in the mid 40's
This is a bit off my normal purchase but it came in a job lot. It is signed Zenith so thats a start but as to the model I'm not sure. The movement is numbered 12-4-P and it has a serial of 8484921....
Well I did a lot of research and her first name was Mary bit of a give away really, she had two sisters both volunteered, one like Mary, served in and around Manchester hospitals and another served...
