Own one, never used it for swimming mind, not that i don't think it would cope i just have another watch better suited to that job. Also mine lives on a leather strap so it would mean resorting to...
My 190 went back to Panerai for a service and came back before the allotted time, like new. Wasn't cheap compared to the ETA movements though.
Some of mine from years gone by and 2 from the present...
Started for me with a 086.

The snap back case and spring bars does put me off, the fact that you only have 24mm straps wouldn't put me off, straps can be bought and sold, the case and spring bars that's a different matter....
The only watch i have with a dome, sadly not a plexi...

That takes me back!, i used to work on them, make sure it's had the hot start modification done and has had a new or good oil pump, they used to give problems and where expensive back in the 80's...
Yes, mine is still on going, but nearing the end. I did all the mechanical and electrical work myself and sent the body to the professionals, although the interior hasn't been done yet that will be...
Lovely pair Rob, as a 232 owner the one thing that lets it down is a lack of a domed crystal and the 720 did interest me. Not sure on the thickness of the case back and the jury is out for me on the...
Looks decent, shame they don't fit the SD4000

One of the best Bettarini cased Panerai, good choice
Lovely Rob, tried on the 662 in London on Thursday and wasn't taken by the dial, the hands looked lost, however i loved the 1940's case and did think 587 would be perfect:eagerness:
Why not pop down to Brooklands this coming Saturday 5th of May for Auto Italia day, there'll be plenty of owners to chat to there.

Lovely collection, thanks for sharing
Some sound advice already given, but i'll add my experiences.
I own a Lancia Delta Integrale and have owned it long before it was considered a classic, or least before the prices started to rise....
Been said previously, but for me the only thing missing is a 1940's case

Had 6 at the start of 2017, moved 4 out and brought 2 in, in January and things have remained settled. Of the 4 i enjoy wearing 3, the odd one out being my SD4000, but time constraints and other...
As above, if your looking to protect a leather sole, i'd go with a less aggressive Dainite.
I know a man that has done it C:eagerness:, by all accounts a work up though..
This might be of use...

For me Panerai are at there best when kept simple.
Congratulations Paul, and sorry to hear about your father.
Depends on how and where you wear it, mine's my daily beater / work watch, now suddenly it's a huge chunk of change on the wrist, so the enjoyment is diminishing.
