Perfect for a ride out on a vintage Raleigh, with a frankensteinish shimano / campag mix of running gear. Really does ride like a dream.

Good call you should definitely get one for your 50th! I must admit to thinking about getting a MXXXXXO for my 60th they are such lovely looking frames.
Nice little project indeed. I must admit the downtube shifters have been interesting to get reacquainted with but, the simplicity of friction shifting and the engagement needed to ride an older bike...
I rode a Raleigh Road Ace back in the 80's not at any great level but I had some great fun on it and have fond memories of the bike before family, kids, work etc etc took precedence. Then last year I...
Great thanks for this and the other info. Life permitting I hope to do it in September.
I'm playing with the idea of doing this later this summer, so thought I would ask a few Q's if I may.
Did you stay in a B&B/hotel overnight or camp? Any general tips on the route / anything you...
No worries, the dura ace are probably a bit too good for my winter hack. Thanks anyway.
I'm after a second pair, are you selling some?
One of the better ways to burn off those Easter eggs. 70 miles around the Lakes District including going over a few steep and scary passes, particularly the 30% + climb on Hardknott Pass. Great...

It can be great if you stick to the quieter lanes and roads, & we're a medium cycle ride from a couple of great climbs, such as the Tumble and Gospel Pass. Unfortunately the A & bigger B roads are a...
My old (early 1990's) Raleigh M-Trax Ti, with modern Campy running gear on a 100km trip around Herefordshire on the weekend.

Manual for me, tried the synchro and the semi first but reverted to manual in the end.

HRM have 'lag" and whilst they will allow you to gauge effort they do not have the accuracy of a PRM, try doing 1 min on 1 minute off for 30 minutes using a HRM, you'll soon lose the ability to track...
Thanks it's well past it's prime but occasionally puts in a good time, much like it's rider.
