That was a fun read. Also interesting to see that I joined around the same time you did but I’m 9,000+ posts behind you.
That’s a perfect example.
Last comment on the Speedmaster...
Years ago on this forum someone said they bought or gave a Speedmaster to their father (who seemed to be well past middle age) but...
If it’s a keeper, you’ll get used to it. But if you think you may sell it someday, you’ll always kick yourself later if you lose a sale or sell for less money because you didn’t get it fixed...
I thinks that’s the key for the Speedmaster. The hands are painted white (not bare metal like most other watches). That provides a solid mass to draw your attention, not a competing visual between...
I’ve owned dozens of watches and looked at a lot more. I’ve found no watch can compare to the legibility of the Speedmaster, especially when I’m without my reading glasses and everything within arms...
I do appreciate that the bracelet on the Hesalite version is fully brushed (vs. some polished parts on the Sapphire model). Although I still prefer the look of the 1171. Give me an 1171 with a push...

WOW, this brand really has a hold on us doesn’t it? What other brand do we discuss ‘returning to’?
The OP said he’s owned several Rolex watches, but sold them because of how he felt about them –...

Appreciate the replies. Definitely not my day job. I fix things around the house but that often becomes a chore. Figured I’’’d apply that skill to something more creative. Have to say it’s been a lot...
Gave each of my teenage sons one of my Seiko dive watches for Christmas last year (SKX for one and Turtle for the other). Figured they need a watch box so designed a nautical themed box (complete...
It’s Friday somewhere...but a little over an hour for me.

My buddy has a Damasko that he's worn as a daily wearer for over a year and it has ZERO scratches. Really amazing. As he likes to say, "the only thing that can scratch a Damasko is....itself."
I chased Subs for years, but always ended up disappointed. The Speedy Pro was my first 'nice' watch, which I sold to buy my first Sub. Now it's ten years later and I'm wearing a Speedy Pro again....

Speedy is my daily wearer - for my needs, it’s perfect, especially on the 1171.
