    A friend of mine uses these at work! its funny watching them sitting at their desk, have to double take sometimes to check its not real!

    actually this could be a great idea too if you like the road bike dimensions and drops. Most have Centre pull brakes and more suitable tyres as well

    Go for the hybrid as has been said. I have commuted on all sorts and fastest time was my roadie however being in the drops and side pull brakes plus 120psi in the tyres did not make a fun commute....

    Things have progressed in 20 years but not so much in driving pleasure but safety. Modern hot hatches are often slower than older models mostly due to being heavier.

    Yeah the Mk2 Golf was probably the top of my list as I would think that a German car would be more reliable than a French car of the same age - this is not based on any knowledge just a guess!...
