I think Cavill is a great actor. He was excellent in The Man from Uncle, but he’s almost too good looking for Bond isn’t he?

I agree, but I'm not sure Elvis is available...
It is part of pop culture, and I for one would like a little less of the earnestness of Craig's movies, and a little more fun and humour.

I'm not a fan of the endless DC/Marvel Universe either, but then I am not really the target market.
I do quite like the idea of a period piece set against the cold-war era, but I'm not sure how...
Granted, my second suggestion, that the new incumbent takes the name for plot reasons but decides or is compelled to keep it, may be more plausible.

If I was writing the next script I could see a couple of ways around the issue of how to bring the character back.
It could be done by explaining that the name "James Bond" is one that multiple...
I should think the reported £50million salary has probably helped cushion the blow a little…

I think a lot will depend on the direction of travel the producers want the next incarnation to take - whether the grittiness of Craig has run its course, or if they want a bit of the fun and cheesy...
He was excellent as Superman, and superb in The Man From Uncle.
