The watch that got me “in to” watches.
Thanks for sharing.
The advice and insight are truly appreciated.
I had considered the OQ - love the design, as well as the contrarian, almost dichotomous, marriage of quartz and gold. But as HM says, the servicing /...
Fantastic advice - thank you. Will keep an eye on the market - any acquisition is likely to be a few months off yet.
For me, even though it’s a fairly “marmite” watch, the yellow gold Rolex Day Date has become a sort of “exit watch”. I think I read Jack Forster’s article on Hodinkee at just the right / wrong time,...
Thanks for the tips folks. I’ll drop by the Omega boutique and have a chat. If I don’t get the warm & fuzzies, I’ll go STS.
Thanks all - will consider STS. Price-wise, the quote from them is at Omega levels.
I think I’ll pop into the Boutique and ask.
Hi all,
My 1991 Speedy needs a service - winding has become stiff and it’s drifting out of time. Service history before I bought it us unknown, so I think it’s fair to say “it’s time”.
I’m...
Love these.
Maybe best via DM for discretion, but really keen to pick up one of these quartz GSs for a birthday gift in October, so any AD deal recommendations would be very handy.
Possibly!
I see it as the cherry on the cake. If we can do it, great, if not, no sweat.
Caught this on Hodinkee today - love it!
Thanks gents.
Perhaps I should have been clearer - the 2824 is a vintage Sandoz, who I doubt would be around to service these legacy models, and the Seiko I guess could be returned to Seiko UK.

Evening forum!
Very simple request from me today.
In the past, depending on the watch, I've used either Rolex St James or Steve Burrage at Rytetime for servicing a few of my watches. I...
Thanks for the opinions.
Will check out the other options. I'm aware I could probably get cheaper material elsewhere, but when I first started out with NATOs, some of the cheaper China NATOs were...
I had a listen to the Grey Nato podcast this morning and they spoke of the Marine Nationale straps, available here: https://erikasoriginals.com/
I was thinking about a rugged strap for my Seiko...
Tempting.
There's one with cool orange hands. I think we have a winner.
Absolutely nothing - it fits the scenario perfectly.
Unfortunately, I'm about £3k short of being able to afford one at the minute!
Evening all.
I've been mulling my next watch with a pretty specific set of criteria.
Current everyday is a 70s Rolex Oyster 6426; small, fits under a shirt cuff, flies under the radar and...
Takes a very long time to turn things around though. Had one of my pieces for well over the estimated time...!
I'm super.unleaded, and it's mostly cars (Porsches).
I must weave the watch angle back in.
Toying with one of these of late.
My reticence with micro brands tends to be their variable quality, but reviews seem positive for Autodromo.
What are your experiences?
Any more pics?
Tempted to pick one up as a summer pool watch.
I spoke with him on the phone a couple of weeks back.
Mentioned he was very busy at the moment.
I've pressed my 70s hand-wound Precision 6424 back into daily service - the 14060 Sub has been relegated to weekend rotation after its expensive trip to St James Sq!
See below (it's the one on...
Very cool, nice and personal.
There's an article on Hodinkee now that discusses availability of this watch.
