^No. But do keep in mind that some liquid always evaporates and this becomes apparent in old bottles. On the same point, it’s quite common for corks to soften and fall apart in old bottles when you...
Also drinking Yamazaki Distiller’s Reserve tonight. Certainly not bad but nothing like their previous 12 and 10yo.

Glenfarclas 15 is the best of their range IMO too. Same applies to Glendronach - nothing beats the 15yo Revival in their offerings.
Another excellent bottling from the chaps at SMWS.

One of the nicest recent SMWS bottlings for tonight:

Much prefer this blend to their new iteration - worth it if you manage to find a bottle hiding somewhere.
Been a huge fan for years. The 12yo is a regular in my rotation, the 18yo is certainly something special.

Excellent scotch.
Tried Glenallachie (the 12yo) for the first time last night - found it too sweet for my tastes.
Agreed - nothing better than their Uig!
^Have not tried the new Revival - the old one was one of my favourites.
Sláinte!

Tried the Ardbeg Wee Beastie (5 yo) last night - peated but not balanced/smoothed out by oak due to its age; not bad and certainly worth a try by Ardbeg fans but can’t be compared to their other more...
Trying the new Taketsuru Pure Malt tonight - 2020 release. Very different to the previous one; much more Yoichi in this one giving it a more smokey character.
We really need to change this thread title to “Whisky” sans “e”!
An exceptional dram:

Not a fan either - I got a bottle from Stocholm airport a few years back, haven’t tried it in recent years, hopefully it will have improved!
Santa has also been nice to me!

Re-visited Old Pulteney 17 last night. Forgot what a special sweet dram it is!
Giving the 18yo JW a go tonight. Haven’t tried it in years - used to be called the Platinum I think in previous years. Not bad at all.
...
^Their old Revival 15 was the best of their offerings IMO. Truly impressive. The Allardice is also a nice dram but still preferred the Revival.
I would suggest Taketsuru Malt and Mars Maltage Cosmo as good entries to Japanese whiskies.
Also tried it about two weeks ago. Very decent stuff indeed and excellent vfm. Very very young malt better suited for a highball IMO.
