Nice bike btw!
I'm a bit confused about what you're trying to achieve... you say you need 2cm less reach, why? What is currently uncomfortable? I assume the saddle is all the way forward on the...
1x gears started on mountain bikes, at least in part driven by the freedom it gave frame designers who now didn't have to consider where to put a front mech. Efficient rear suspension is focused...
Of course!
I had a steel 456 a while back and whilst the geometry was spot on, it rode like it was made of scaffold poles... Seemed to ride through things rather than over them. Always wondered...
Love that.... always nice to see a Lefty!
What frame is that... looks a bit like a 456 but can't make out the name on the top tube!
I wouldn’t be quite so gung-ho, not all cassettes are as friendly… some have separate cogs which are separated by different width spacers. Drop one of those and you’re spending the next half hour...
That's a fair point. The GRX is 2.5mm wider so depending on whether there are any spacers on the BB you might be able to bodge it but otherwise the front mech and chainline aren't going to be ideal....
So, assuming both crank sets work with the current fitted bottom bracket then at the very least you'll need to drop the front mech a little to account for the smaller chainrings and adjust the cable...
Just a couple of observations...
Standover height really isn't a good sizing method. If you're spending your time on road, you're going to be in roughly the same position for quite a while so...
Unless you're really wedded to the Garmin ecosystem then I'd also check out some of the competition. I moved to Wahoo after my last Garmin died and I'm much happier with it - the whole experience is...
The computer was brilliant... it was like having an early laptop on your handlebars. Managed to get it working but couldn't fathom out what it was actually measuring!
I love my Pegoretti......
I run a small repair workshop and had a Raleigh Record Ace from the late 70’s / early 80’s to revamp a couple of months back. Nice little project…
Raleigh Record Ace
I think it was a bit misquoted... because there are rolling road closures, no one is allowed to overtake the lead car which will travel at a speed appropriate to the conditions... or something like...
The biggest issue I've found in trainers is that the soles are so soft, your foot almost bends round the pedal. Causes me all manner of issues. Even on a mountain bike where I'm using flats,...
Knee pain can be caused by a load of different things... as a (really) general rule of thumb, if the pain is at the back of the knee then it's often that the saddle's too high, pain at the front and...
To be honest, buying almost any spare parts from Shimano for the last couple of years has been an exercise in futility!
In theory a lot of the components can be stripped down and individual parts...
ive always used the Copter Tape from Justrodingalong.com but it looks like they’re out of stock.
It’s basically just 3M heli tape which you can pick up from Amazon - just warm it up a bit when...
For workstands Feedback Sports are the best I've used.
For wall hangers I've not found any that are 'perfect' but I've got 4 or 5 of the Feedback Sports Velo Hinges which aren't bad. I've also...
oooooh they’re properly pretty.
I’ve started my own bike repair / servicing business and have spent way more than I should on tools. I hadn’t come across BCS before though.
Very nice.
I've had 303's on my 'best' bike for a while... they must be 7 or 8 years old now and have been great. There were issues with earlier hubs and Zipp never had the greatest reputation for customer...
To be honest it would be nicer if they sorted out their supply chain and actually delivered some of the current components. If you’re trying to get 105 or Ultegra spares at the moment there’s a...
ok, so it’s an integrated headtube (IS) that has an upper headtube with a 42mm inside diameter (actually 41.8mm but who’s counting) and a lower headtube inside diameter of 52mm, and the fork would...
Lots of studies around about active vs passive recovery... many of which I'm sure contradict each other.
The theory behind active recovery is that it flushes the lactate from the muscles, encourages...
Absolutely right.
I was helping a mate through his bike training for an ironman recently and he needed to do a couple of hours recovery in Z2... said it was the toughest session he did as it was so...
One other thing... Andrew Coggan and Hunter Allen's book 'Training and Racing with a Power Meter' is really worth a read. It's reasonably accessible and if you want to actually use all that extra...
Have a read up about Normalised Power. If you're using the power data to understand how 'stressful' the ride is then it might be a better option.
As an example, if you were to sit on a turbo...
