Thanks all. I didn't consider that the fatter tires may rub. The key reasons were to try something different and lower the height of the tt, which is tall. It's not a huge problem but its a big frame...
Cheers will take a look
I am running disc brakes with QRs. It's a slightly oversized Burls ti tourer.
Out of idle interest, has anyone converted their 700c bike to 650c?
My bike can run 700x35 and I was wondering if I should try and run a fatter 650 wheel and tire combination. Its not a daily...
Red for me too
Well done you. That would take me almost 55 mins even with your rig!
Glad you are pleased, it's a lovely bike
They are fun to ride. If you decide to wheel it around it maybe worth getting the larger trolley wheels. Something like

I would try padded shorts first. Its a long and slippery slope getting the right saddle.
Cheaper alternatives to try would be the charge spoon, which a lot of people seem to like.
that's good going. I only hit around 3800 and that is mainly (practically all commuting) - I really should get out more.
The biggest benefit I got from a fittting was understanding what good feels like. Things are always going to change - bike, flexibility etc but I find having a good base as a starting point really...
I found these two sites useful when I had trouble fitting myself to my bike
http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/fitting.htm

The latter has a lot of stuff...
I just re-read, I am not sure the genesis equilibrium will take 35c, I think 32 maybe max on the disc equipped bike.
The caliper one just may take 28.
The Croix de fer can take them slightly...
Vittoria Voyager Hyper - folding ones, which are cheap at Planet X, come highly recommended by friends.

Those Orro's do look good. I must confess I do like skinny tubes and just can't get used to all these different shapes on the carbon bikes.
Westberks - did you get your bike?
Anything good from wiggle (dhb?) will work and it's easy returns.
Yes please. I quite like vintage bikes.
I can echo all of the above. I run the marathon plus, and have them pumped quite high, which limits its adhesion in wet conditions. I just ride a lot more slowly and carefully.
Sure you didn't mean ride an e-bike! Lol
I can see myself getting some sort of assist for the winter commute.
+1,
On a separate note and given the comment about the 2% bike thing, do lighter bikes really make a difference?
I can see the advantages of ebikes and I must profess to wanting one for the winter commute. My round trip is around 34 miles and it could mean doing it more often, but at the current prices levels...
Seeing all these bikes and watching the tdf has made me lust after a carbon bike.
Are they really quicker and more fun to ride?
That's interesting as I keeping reading about how the weight of the bike doesn't/ shouldn't make a material difference, but its seems to have had a positive impact with you. I realise some of it is...
Its sound daft, but I prefer a triple as I like the 39 in the middle or a proper double, but I really need the granny gear!
I finally understood the joy of riding off-road, no cars. Went around the woods on my boardman pro, and I had a good time even though I got off for the more technical bits - too scared of falling...
