It's been mentioned but THE OUTFIT on Netflix is a cracker.
Very wordy and like watching play, as already noted. Feels like LA Confidential meets Glengarry Glen Ross.

I do enjoy French cinema, shall seek that one out. In fact just spotted it on YouTube - thanks!
THE TRAIN
One of the few classic war movies (1964) I've never seen - just fabulous.
Burt Lancaster and Paul Scofield, directed by John Frankenheimer - that alone should get you looking.
Final Cut / Coupez!
French remake of a Japanese hit.
Best laugh I've had in a while, and really quite a clever setup. Spoiler... it ain't a zombie movie!

Portrait of a Lady on Fire
French 18th century drama avec drinking from the furry goblet. Despite the hair, a lovely piece of cinema :shame:
THE SISTERS BROTHERS
Kinda odd dark comedy set in the 1850s gold rush. Very good cast of Phoenix, Gyllenhaal and co.
MOON DOGS
2016 indy with an unknown (to me) cast of three youngsters on a roadtrip from Shetland to Glasgow; beautifully acted and funny/sad, plus great music.
Amazon Prime.
MAN DOWN
Apparently dissed by the critics but I thought it was quite clever. Military drama, Shia LaBeouf stars.
On Amazon Prime.
GAME NIGHT
Highly entertaining action/caper - pretty silly plot but with some very funny moments, similar feel to True Lies.
Great cast including Rachel McAdams.
OVERLORD
Goes from violent WW2 actioner akin to Saving Private Ryan into something else entirely halfway through... :welcoming:
Great fun but not for the faint-hearted! Low budget and fairly...
I AM MOTHER
Pretty tidy sci-fi brain teaser.
On Netflix.
Triple Frontier
Decent military/heist adventure with Affleck, Isaac, Hunnam, etc. Pretty much Kelly’s Heroes meets The Wild Geese.
On Netflix.
Oxygene
Tidy little sci-fi mystery with the lush Mélanie Laurent; prob best avoided if you’re claustrophobic :shame:
On Netflix
EXTRACTION
aka Kill Everyone As Fast As Possible - popcorn and beer fun for two hours, on Netflix.
Border
Total mindf**k Swedish effort, but absolute quality and engrossing.
Frantz
A lovely little film about the aftermath of WW1; the young German actress - Paula Beer - is wonderful.
In French/German, and on iPlayer:

The Light Between Oceans
Fassbender, Vikander and Weisz in a beautiful piece of film. Warning: tears likely; guaranteed if you’re a parent.
On BBC iPlayer, no idea if streaming elsewhere.

Snow White and the Huntsman
Going back a bit to 2012 but surprised how much I liked this; not usually a fan of fantasy stuff but the twist of it being dark thriller was pretty cool. Great cast...

Late to the party on this, but what a beautiful piece of cinema: the journey of a young man in a very tough environment.
Story, acting, music, directing, atmosphere... a slow-burner...
The Gambler
Mark Wahlberg showing he's actually a very good serious actor, along with Brie Larson and John Goodman; jumps around a bit but a decent story of a man on a downward spiral.
The...
Blockers
Parents trying to thwart their daughters’ prom night sex pact.
No brain needed to follow the plot but some very, very funny moments esp. from ex-wrestler John Cena :welcoming:
Add me to the list!
Must've seen it a dozen times since the mid-80s; It's 'High Noon' in space!
