I saw this. Someone got a nice bike.

However, I was thinking of the older R1100 or 1150 GS. I like the simplicity and general ugliness of the earlier bikes!

I have a hankering for an older GS to add to the R9T in the garage.

    Budget around £4K.

Has anyone any experience with the R1100 or 1150 GSs?

Short in stature so Iíd probably consider one of...

I donít think youíd want to tour Europe on one but thatís not the point of the bike.

If youíre after a plush magic carpet then a big adventure bike is going to tick that particular box.

Agreed and I think I wasnít making myself clear - I meant between the two bikes (R1250R and R9T) the layout has nothing to do with it as itís the same. Interestingly though they handle differently...

I donít think the layout of the cylinders has anything to do with it.

I took the new R1250R out whilst my R9T was in for its MOT and the new bike felt lighter and more agile, despite the similar...

Absolutely, that's not in doubt. The same could have been said for a 512BB versus a 365GTB/4 but which commands the premium nowadays?

No major manufacturer is ever going to make an NA V10 ever...

    I have a 2007 M6 and probably get 12mpg if Iím lucky.

Times have changed but thereís no substitute for a NA induction roar. All these small V8s with 20-odd turbos are soulless in comparison.
