Castelli is the most poseur kit out there. Friend of mine is about 12 stone, 5'9", wears a medium in normal t-shirts. Had to buy XXL in a Castelli jersey. Ridiculous.
I like to layer up so I can add/remove as necessary, so use an outer shell Altura Nightvision jacket (which has a built-in light on the back as well as the reflectors) for the commute, and if cold...
True. I had some cheapies from Decathlon that I thought were OK, until I grabbed some actual pro-level ones (new and unworn!) that Cannondale were getting rid of at the end of the 2013 season. Since...
Little and often to ease your arse into it! Ten minutes 3 times a day, spaced out, will give quicker results than one hour long session.
As if faffing about with putting a new tube in is somehow easier? Instant patches are literally that...guarantee that they're faster than putting a new tube in. Also means you don't have to carry one...
There's nothing to stop you looking for reasons for the puncture with the wheel still attached. You just bypass all the faff of opening the brakes, and if the rear, getting back into the drivetrain.
A soft saddle will actually hurt more in the long run. Within a couple of weeks on a proper saddle your arse will get used to it, and they're more efficient and cause less chafing. You don't see pros...
I know I may be preaching to the converted here, but I've never understood why people take the wheel off to fix a puncture.
Perfectly possible to get the tube out and patch it without removing...
I've got V12s on my full suspension bike, V8s on the hardtail, and V6s on the commuter!
The old Shimano BioPace are oval in the opposite way to the modern ones.
I managed to injure my knee quite badly using BioPace a few years ago.
I've done everything I can to bring the stress down - electric car, so no dirty refuelling, no worrying about being able to afford the petrol (free charger at the gym, nice inducement for me to go 3...
Mountain biker who used to commute to work on a bike. Had so many near misses, I started commuting with a GoPro, then I got hit by a car, and realised a GoPro won't actually save my life, just...
I wouldn't put that saddle on a road bike. Great as it is, it's more of a commuter/fixie/hipster style saddle than a road bike one.
I would definitely get padded shorts, and your arse will get...
Thanks, some great advice there. Will keep looking.
Can any mountain bikers recommend a dropper seatpost for me?
I've tried 3 local bike shops, none of them have been any help whatsoever. I have a 2011 Cube LTD Race, which already has a fork...
Oooh. Presume you topped up the vouchers with about the same in cash for one of those?
Interesting to see a Scott with a Lefty, I thought they only fit Cannondales?
Did Swinley again yesterday with a couple of mates. Getting more confident on the downhills now, keeping up with them on their full suspension bikes - me on a hardtail!
That frame and paint scheme (design, not colour) looks almost exactly like last year's Cube Agree.
