So, is this a forum for people who love watches, or is this a forum of ‘modern banking’. Not watches, money.
Worth remembering that. Daytona is one of the most easily buyable. Anyone, anywhere, can buy one, latest version and finish. If you are ready to pay, that’s it. All over. A few minutes on line....
Fashion………..you know how fickle public tastes are. Do you hear the remarks whispered between people?
That sounds rude, which I don’t intend. And I avoid all remarks. But opinions can differ sharply....
No need to ‘grovel’ for a mass-produced Rolex; there are thousands of them all over the place, so much over-supply that grey dealers actually turn them away (it’s true) . So, if you want, pay the...
Strange old world. My first, the sixtiescDeVille. Got me through much of my life. Always enjoyed it. And now, my last, a late Daytona. So Omega DeVille, now Rolex Daytona. And, for me, that’s ...
A DeVille. My first ever watch, bought in 1965 , paid for by saving every month. Wore one for thirty years. Then the hands fell off, never serviced. Very handsome. Omega made fine watches.
I nearly bought one of those. Wish I had. Lovely design.
These really vivid blues. Nice.
It never makes sense, it’s not believable. Why would a thief risk a direct confrontation and then be left with a watch (counterfeit) to sell to dodgy people? Far better to steal a wallet….money,...
There are a certain kind of ‘easy’ story which can be knocked out to fill airtime with no real effort. I know, it was my job. Easy Peasy. The police don’t care, most thieves can’t tell genuine thefts...
‘Cheaper and nicer properties out in the sticks’. Really? Do you know how much a house costs compared with London salaries? Where are these ‘sticks’. Lewisham. New cross, streatham, on and on, always...
But hasn’t it been generally accepted that no-one notices, or cares, what watches people wear. The public just don’t care.
Btw: shoes are a real give-away. The local AD had a decent blue suit, a...
I lived and worked
in London for forty years. It’s all about money. That’s it. Live in, say, Primrose Hill. Delightful. If you are a millionaire. Being poor in London means bad everything…….don’t...
That was unexpected. The Rolex dealer gave me a new gold link for an Oyster bracelet , it was a bit tight. Anyway, no charge..,and they cost £500 so that was decent.
Austen’s in Chichester,
Restrained, unobtrusive, slim, monotone, never drawing attention to itself.
No,I’m not describing Boris Johnson.
Excellent challenge, and surprisingly difficult to get right. As mentioned, I’d support the early GS ‘grammar’ designs. A style which has remained timeless. The markets don’t welcome really classy,...
I wear a mask, when required. If only to be polite. But the weird thing is I never see any real evidence that it makes a
difference. Let’s see the figures, see what helps. My own favourite...
So, an armful of ‘explorers’?
Rolex have numbers all over their carefully regulated production. I don’t see it as a genuine issue. Which is why I took the sticker off and threw it away, mind you, I’m still peeling plastic from ...
We sometimes like a nice bit of paranoia to stoke. These microchips peel off, so you could stick them in the wrong stock. Confusion, betrayal, instant history. And to think, it was once all peace and...
Maybe it’s a whole new game…..green tab, cards, box…..microchipped. Imagine that…..your new watch is marked as ‘stock control’.
But as long as you have a receipt, who cares. It’s yours.
Btw: what...
My new watch had a small plastic patch , Dotted with a series of microchips, secured in a quiet way. The dealer left them on the side of the case. But it will peel off.
I’ve just noticed that my new Rolex is equipped with a microchip. From the factory. Quite subtle really. Never seen it before, but has to be a good idea.
Do you wear a watch, or does it wear you? Don’t be dictated to by a mere watch.
As this is public, il explain.
