I had a 117, lovely watch; put it on a rubber strap which really worked. Eventually sold it to a fellow TZer, who still enjoys it.

But notice how similar it is to this....both designs stemming from the same vision.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190717/ea9e08e885a851e8237c20ff9a0dce70.jpg

I prefer a strap, and always have. But that watch is now being worn by my partner, and she likes bracelets. I’ve never been a fan of Seiko bracelets. As for looks.....you either get it or you don’t....
Not a fan of Grand Seiko sports designs. Too big,too clunky, generally a bit crude looking. And, desperate for growth, GS are putting-out more of this stuff. To my eyes, it’s a bit of a mess.

That’s the dear old 117 quartz, discontinued before it was ever officially offered in the UK. I put mine on a black rubber strap; another TZer has it these days.
Wonder if the new range of quartz...
That’s just right....
Very nice watch indeed. Handsome dial; But it retails at £10,000. That’s more than a Rolex 43mm SeaDweller. But while the SD will retain all its value, the GS will shed thousands of pounds.
So fine,...
That’s like comparing a Golf GTI with a Rolls Royce Wraith. The Rolex is good, but the Creidor exists in a different universe.
I had the black faced version of the 115...the 117. Had to import it direct from Japan. They were never officially on sale in the UK.
The good thing is that a fellow TZer still has it. Lovely,...
Might as well feature the 241 in this Grand Seiko thread. 18k gold bezel and hands, the rest is steel. Copy of a 1960s classic design, but with a slightly bigger case (39.5mm). Rare in having an...
So it's a 'Japan only' sports quartz, the first 'sports' model. Interesting. Grand Seiko getting frisky.
Excuse my ignorance....haven't seen that before, what model?
My partner with the 37mm 061 quartz; when she realised I was selling it, she grabbed it. Which is fine by me. Although she is petite, with slender wrists, it looks...
Spring-drive and quartz are my preference. This is my only quartz, the SBGT 241. I thought the 'beads of rice' bracelet just a bit too 'shiny' so I got this Hirsch Heritage....
It's striking to me how much these up-to-date designs from GS echo the original design of the first , manual wind, designs in the early sixties. Grand Seiko have been true to their heritage. This...
I did reserve a 241 through Jura; but I changed my mind because I end-up wearing mechanical watches. Wonder if I did the right thing....that bracelet is great.
So inferior to a Rolex standard spec then.I'd keep quiet. The more conservative GS are, the better. And then there's your spring drive at a few seconds a month. That's genuinely special.
I hope they are not going to write 'special' on their dials. I mean, really.
I'm no fan of the power reserve; it's simply not needed on the spring-drive because the rewind mechanism is unusually efficient. Wear the watch in the normal way and it won't wind down.
Interesting video; not many UK watch guys seem to realise how rich and diverse Grand Seiko history really is. And that in the sixties they were producing a mechanical watch guaranteed to a minute a...
I know from experience that the dial on Kingkitega's Tenth Anniversary spring-drive 109 is a true classic. What intrigues me is that, when briefly for sale as a limited edition, it only cost £500...
Well, I was selling my 253, but events got in the way, so now it is staying. Handsome watch.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180302/a56dd03eb024972e0f09dad8008cbb5d.jpg...
About time 'Tiny' showed us his 117 quartz dive watch; discontinued, which is a real shame. In many ways quartz is perfect for more rugged activities.
