Re: Anyone read any good books recently ?

Just finished "Newton and the Counterfeiter", an entertaining and interesting read. Before that, Bob Dylan's autobiography "Chronicles" which was a little unusual but I loved it.

    Re: Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic

I quite like these, but not the shiny bezel. Has anyone converted theirs to a brushed finish?

Re: Washing machines Miele or ISE10

The Miele's are well built, but I think the user interface design on them is usually much better thought through as well.

    Re: Laser eye surgery........

I'm saving to have it done though I'll be getting LASEK rather than LASIK because it's safer for my type of eyesight.

    Re: PRS-10 Strap

Agreed, the green canvas looks great, I used to have one and regret selling it.

Are there any resources out there for people looking to get started making their own straps?

Re: Flieger on a bracelet, what do you think?

It looks very good, SBIII-ish, though I find chunky bracelets look great but are too heavy to wear all the time.

    Re: Match made in heaven

Great photos, there's something about the Bond strap that's very eye-catching. I always get more comments on my watches when they're on Bond natos.

    Re: loving my 29A

In pictures, the lugs seem quite long on this watch, do they seem like that in person?

    Re: My first 2 Mods

The SKX031 looks fantastic, well done!
  15. Re: What other clean-faced watches are out there?

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm still leaning towards the Speedbird or the Sinn, but I'll check out the others as well.
  16. Poll: Re: Size does not - always - matter. Seiko SUS "Military"

It's a great looking watch, there is certainly something very pleasing about the proportions.
  17. What other clean-faced watches are out there?

I've been looking recently at the Speedbird 3, which I think has a superb design, highly legible and completely uncluttered. The other watches I've seen with a similar look are the Sinn 556 and the...

Re: My first new "nice" watch

Congrats, that's a beautiful watch. It's definitely one of the cleanest looking watches out there.
  19. Re: What strap for Oris big crown pointer date?

Thanks for the suggestions guys, the pics really help. Unfortunately, Eddie's ostrich grain strap doesn't come in 18mm, so I can't use that. I've ordered a few different straps, we'll see how they...
  20. What strap for Oris big crown pointer date?

I've just bought a silver 36mm Oris pointer date off ebay. It's a beautiful watch, I'm looking for a couple of new straps for it. I was going to get a black braided nato, but I also wanted a brown...

    Re: Alpha Watches

I have to agree, the seiko 5's are much better at this price point. My SNK809 is absolutely rock solid, and a great looking watch too.

Re: Trying to pick a Sinn (new here)

Great choice with the 103. I also think the 556 and the 656 are superb watches, some of the best designs I've seen.
  23. Re: Seiko Ananta - beautiful, but 4.5k for a Seiko?

It certainly seems beautifully engineered, but the styling looks a little fussy to me. I have nothing against paying for a high end seiko though.

It doesn't affect me at all, because I can't afford any expensive watches yet :(

Re: Why are glasses so f'king expensive?

My glasses I got online for 40 are probably 90% as good as my 300 frames. Also, buying contact lenses directly online has saved me hundreds over the last few years. It's well worth it to shop...
