Just to close this thread. My WTB came through and I took delivery yesterday. Still experimenting with the best straps but I think an antique leather strap will be the winner....

I might give it a punt for a low bid near the the closing date but 36mm seems a bit small - a low bid, test and then possible resell on eBay would possibly work.

I have been toying with a Rolex Explorer but, don't laugh, wanted to practice with a cheaper no date watch to make sure I can cope without a date on my wrist having had one for my entire adult life....
