Ah, I wasn't very clear. I am slimming down my collection because I just don't wear my vintage watches anymore and I am letting the ones that aren't working go first. There's no benefit to me...
Late 60s Rolex Date in 14k

I found the "all gold" look a bit much so I've put it on a strap and sourced a buckle from my AD.
...
I like a silver dial too and this was how I bought my Rolex Datejust (16220) back in 2016.

The folks at Watchfinder obviously...
1971 Bell-Matic that I've had for the last 15 years or so. Thinning out the collection though so this one will be out the door shortly.

Thanks for the responses on this and just to conclude it, I listed it on eBay with the fault declared and bidding went surprisingly well, giving a return of £40 on the price I paid once I've allowed...
Thank you.
The Seamaster is a manual wind Cosmic from 1966 or thereabouts and was my first proper watch back in May 2004. I went vintage as I couldn't afford a modern Seamaster at the time.

Here's my three - F300hz Constellation (70s), Seamaster Cosmic (60s) and a Speedy Reduced (90s).

All three have been in hibernation...
I own a Farer Frobisher II and I've been very happy with it. It's a quartz and I bought it so I always had a watch that was showing the correct time no matter how long it had been off the wrist.

Zenith Elite Captain Central Seconds:

Thank you and it's a curious one for sure. I don't know what these vintage Oris pieces command price wise these days (I paid £165 8 years ago) but I suspect that a service is going to run to 50% of...
I'm with you on this OP. I was gifted the gold Rolex Date that I put a photo of up a few posts ago, but it is/was too much for me. So I put it on a brown strap, treated it to a legit Rolex clasp and...
Thanks, and yes for sure. I bought it in 2013 and it's never been serviced in my ownership so it's certainly due.
I was just curious how it might have failed while "out of circulation". Had it...
I've recently re-aquianted myself with my Oris Star diver. For the last three years it has sat, unworn, in a watch box.
Now back on the wrist it runs fine until it's time for the date to switch...
Here's mine, an Elite Captain Central Seconds

I love it but sadly it hasn't ever been right from day 1 because even if I wear it all day, it will stop...
Thanks, that's useful to know in case a 14k bracelet were ever to turn up.
Interesting, I had not considered that only the clasp may have been changed.
Thanks. I think the leather...
Another vote for a Rolex. Here's my 1503 Date from the late 60s and still "relatively" affordable even though it's on a bracelet.

Thanks, I really like it too. The lack of a quickset date is a bit of a nuisance as it's not a daily wearer, but other than that it's a great addition to the collection.
Thank you and yes, it seems you are right and it is 750. Even with a macro lens it's hard to photograph but here it is.

I assume therefore...
I recently received this, a late 60s Rolex Date in 14k with the Shantung dial. It did belong to my wife's father and he's decided he no longer wants to wear it, so it has come to me.
...
Many thanks for sharing this - very useful.
When I bought my Datejust (2nd hand) 6 yrs ago it came with a hang tag.
I've just spotted that it's not for my watch but seems to be for a BLRO instead.
I know the bottom left number is the...
Thanks, I like it a lot and I'm very grateful for it. Reading a few more posts on here I've learnt that it has quite a rare "Shantung" dial too, which is interesting.
I'm definitely going to wear...
I just received this from my Father in Law. He's decided he isn't going to wear it anymore and knowing of my interest he thought I should have it.
